It's more or less already the standard. Like, aren't you surprised when a show is announced for 26 straight episodes now?

Knights of Sidonia is a great series thus far, and it doesn't take long to get used to the graphics. The op soundtrack is so inspiring... which makes me glad I'm not a mecha-pilot! |
Another way to look at is this of (sometimes happens this way): If a Jan. anime debuts and it runs 24-26 episodes, save for the OVA/movie, you might have to wait until the following Jan. or spring for the next season.
However, if you have a 12-13 episode Jan. series, you might be able to get another 12-13 episode season during the summer or fall. Though, when is really lucky it, you might be able to get a 24-26 season during either of those seasons.
If a series has 39 episodes or 50-52 episodes and it airs weekly, while it may deserve another season/OVA/movie, you have the equivalent of 3-4 cours.

Wow!! For real? Knight of Sidonoa gets second season?
I haven't watch it yet because I was unsure if it is worth it (mainly about the story, genres and themes). And it's nothing to do with CG as I did watch Ars Nova and Kingdom and enjoy both greatly. And lastly,I was having less time for anime so I picked only the ones most likely I would enjoy it of spring animes. And it was Jojo,Haikyuu & NGNL.
So should I reconsider & give a shot?

If you like science fiction then by all means yes give it a shot.
If all you want is a slice of life anime then no run away as fast as you can.

I hope they do as well with maintaining suspense in the second season as in the first. My favorite anime of the season by far. I really like the spare and dramatic graphic style as well.

Luckily,I have no problem with science fiction. Maybe I'll check it sometime in the future.

Also adding on, it's plot is really compelling and well executed. There's lots of twists and turns (not as much as Death Note or Code Geass but still a lot)
It also reminds me of a gem called From the New World which aired back in Fall 2012 because both shows are excellent at world building.
