An underaged girl flashing her panties? In MY manga? No way, it's never happened before, I don't believe it!
Wait what? C'mon Zac, it's a goddamn drawing. Stop being so uptight.

Are you convinced that there's something in Nymphet that justifies the intense sexualization of an 8-year old? The people who have read this title usually say "Well it isn't pornographic but claiming it's an innocent fantasy is nonsense, clearly this character is designed to appeal to lolicons".
All this GEEZ AT LEAST READ IT FIRST stuff seems to suggest that if everyone sat down and read Nymphet, they'd say "Oh, huh, well I guess this 8-year old alluding to blowing her teacher and flashing her panties is A-OK". That is simply not true.

No. You stop casual acceptance of the sexualization of children.
Everyone knows my position on this so I'm not going to get in to it any further.

Shin-chan waving his junk around is not sexualized. I don't even know if you CAN sexualize Shin-chan; the artwork is nigh-abstract. Rin in Nymphet is an intensely sexualized character; the endless panty shots and bold-faced sexual allusions and advances make this extremely obvious. The difference between that and Shin-chan is enormous. |
True, and this also brings up the concept of context. Both girls at the beach and women in playboy and hustler may wear bathing suits, but the context determines the meaning. It is arguably those who ignore context and common sense who are closed minded.

NO U!
It's a drawing. Fake. Not real. Fantasy. If this was something live action, then I'd absolutely agree with everything you're saying, but it's a freaking drawing.
You're starting to sound a lot like Jack Thompson Zac. You're confusing reality with fantasy.

Did you even look at the drawing? All the elements surrounding that image is what is bringing all the controversy in. Is this normal for an 8 year old to act like that? Absolutely not, unless she was brought up in some sick manner.

Yes, I have. Again, it's a drawing. It's not real. At all.
Yes, the sexualization of children is bad...when they're real. This one isn't.

This is the argument that people often bring out about lolicon. Because it's a drawing it's not doing any harm to people. It's not doing harm to a third party because there's no one else involved except for one person, the reader. Here's where you have to be extremely careful about this type of thing. The more you're exposed to it, the more you might be feeling to having a child fulfill your sexual desires. Plain and simple. I've been in similar situations, the thought of the fact that I would even think to touch a child in the wrong way disgusts me. I don't want to think about it again.

All people have free will, whether they intend to justify sex with a child is up to them.

Says who?
Seriously. Can you prove this link? At all? Or do you all just pull this argument out of your asses? I for one know the difference between reality and fantasy, and will never be confused. Like almost all fetishes, pedophilia isn't a choice. The only people that would ever move over to real child pornography from lolicon would have to be pedophiles to begin with. Your logic fails.

Yes, I can prove this link: MYSELF. Exposure to young girls dressed indecently while I'm working my job as a cashier made me think about going out and raping young girls. I also happened to have some manga that had underage girls involved in sex acts. Satisfied now? I went through a good three months therapy to fix this problem. The thing is you may know the difference between fantasy and reality. There's a whole lot of other people who don't. It doesn't matter whether they're exposed to a drawing or a real picture. When it happens to you, be sure to let me know.

Good for you, and I mean that honestly. Again, most fetishes aren't chosen, but they can be fixed with therapy, if you're willing to go through with it.
Sometimes it isn't as easy (and three months is easy, although I'm sure it didn't feel like it was to you) to get rid of it though. Your average Joe isn't going to suddenly feel like touching little girls from reading this manga. To go back to my Thompson comment, I play ultra violent video games all the time, and I'm a pretty good shot, but I've never felt like actually killing anybody, and the one time I went to a pistol range I totally sucked.
You're right that some people can't tell reality from fantasy, and those people need help. Barring this manga won't solve anything.

The problem is people rant on about this stuff yet they're not watching their kids and seeing what they're doing, I've seen moms buy Grand Theft Auto for the grade school age kids. Why do kids at times turn out to be violent and then parents are complaining? Were you even making sure your kids were exposed to the right stuff, or did you even sit down to tell them what is right from wrong? That's what pisses me off about parents who have uncontrollable kids, because they let them get that way because obviously the kids learned from a young age that they can do what they want.

The young character expresses sexuality, yes, but no one brought up anything more than that then those calling foul
It's not fair to say that this was Seven Seas indication, either. They have done the right thing in taken a serious notice, but it's up to them. They're being honest about it, at least.

I read through the entire article a couple of times. And I flat out do not get the comparison of Shin-Chan to Nymphet. First of all Shin-Chan is the cateorgy of crude humor a kin to shows like Family Guy and The Simpson. Even though I do not approve of the show, Shin-Chan never over sexualize kids. All Shin-Chan do is occasionally shows his private parts and sometimes read X rated mags. Also,I do not think that people are going to get all hot and steamy or horny watching Shin-Chan. So,that comparison really baffle me. The show could have been done the sexual aspects of the show more tastefully. Instead of having elementary girl having sexual feelings to a teacher. It could have been an high school girl having these feelings about her teacher and its would have been a bit more tasteful. And besides what would a elementary girl knows about sex. The matter of the point over sexualizing kids is wrong and replusive. And trying to make riduculous comparison is poor judgement. The company should have said its was a porno. Instead of throwing this riduculous garbage as a defense of the show. The media is not that stupid to believe this garbage
