Ah shoot guess putting off that pre order worked in my favor. This was going to be the first FUNimation set I bought new in three years. Maybe they will include the OVAs the next time around.

It's not so much the content itself (I have no interest in this show whatsoever personally) so much as the principle of the matter. Funimation flat out lying to their customers is inexcusable and folks have every right to call them out on it. It's true that this is probably more of a case of someone being too dumb to check rather than flat out fraud but it's still incredibly incompetent. Not complaining about this is pretty much the same as giving them permission to do something like this again and next time it might happen with a bigger title. |

Wow. Surprised we got to page 4 before someone said something like this. Get out dude, go try and make snarky comments in some other talkback. There is serious discussion in this one, but no matter what someone always has to be the comedian. |

This franchise means a lot to people out there. It's starting to get attention in the west now. XSEED handled BURST on 3DS just fine and we were expecting FUNimation to do the same with the anime. |

This is especially inexcusable as the box correctly states the contents. I'm a little loathe to return it to RightStuf since I really want Funi to pay for it(let's see... they can begin by refunding us in full and continue by sending by sending everybody a copy of the OVAs once they've gotten them entirely at their own expense). But they probably won't say more than "sorry" unless somebody sues them(hell, they don't even say so much as they'll look into doing something), so return it is.

I feel bad for TRSI as of late. They end up taking a lot of heat for Funimation's screw-ups. TRSI needs to give Funimation lessons on how to run a tight ship. |

If that's the case, then it seems that Funimation is in even more hostile legal territory. I find it hardly believable that their announcing of the OVAs and the subsequent failure to include them would be only a "simple mistake from unawareness" if it was already put on the box. Let's not derail the thread people, this is fraud, plain and simple, the kind that could attract a class action lawsuit demand. This is not about R1 consumers being entitled or about how evil *sob* *sob* piracy is. Had Funi said from day one they would not include the mini-ovas or had they announced one day prior to shipment (so people could cancel their orders) that they would not be included, there would be no shitstorm, just business as usual. It disgusts me how some people protect this kind of shitty business practices and even try to distract the attention or even shift the blame.

This kinda reminds of the Anime Classics release of "Is This a Zombie" back in March. No one knew until they started receiving the orders that the BD version was missing the OVA. Meanwhile the DVD that was in the same package had it on the disc. I know that was probably some licensing issue, but it was never mentioned that it would be missing from the BD.
Ah! My Goddess: Flights of Fancy, Paniponi Dash & Welcome to the NHK all I know have yellow subtitles under Funimation releases. Although that's probably due to it being easier for them to just put ADV's old subtitle code on the disc than to redo the subtitles in Funimation's regular font. |

You should see all the morons on their facebook page. http://i.imgur.com/sTJQsHP.png The type of people who call themselves anime fans yet have only seen SAO, and on an illegal streaming site at that. |

I think those guys are at the middle point between fanboyism and stockholm syndrome victims. |

On the argument of it being called false advertising or fraud, for people that don't know what happened, I do think they have a valid argument. However, if the Japanese had any say in it, perhaps the blaming should be given a percentage: x % was the Japanese and x% was Funi.

That is not how law works, the japanese were not the ones advertising and selling a product in the USA, they are the ip holders, no more, no less. What you are saying is akin to blaming the rolling stones because the CD I bought with their music was defective. |

I barely own any Funi titles, and I had no intention of giving them any of my money (though I did buy the OniAi release just to support them doing sub-only...) and this just further manifests my decision to continue doing so.
There are actual competent companies around who, y'know, won't screw things up on a regular basis. I'll rather fuel them with my $$$ to nurture a higher standard, because Funimation's is far from acceptable. @kadmos1, There's absolutely no reason to blame the Japanese licensors for this, as it was Funimation who falsely advertised their product and then went full ninja when people noticed their faults. It's an utterly disgusting move for a company that's supposed to be professional. |

I don't see what the fuss is about. Funimations releases are so heavily censored that they aren't worth watching, any way. I personally wouldn't pay 1% of their charges for anything of theirs that is r-rated.
