If you're talking about how the characters reacted after seeing it, I don't think that is a display of homophobia. If only the male characters present had that reaction then sure. However everyone on the bus reacted the same way. That to me was entirely about seeing something horrible that you can't unsee such as say 2 girls 1 cup. |

I don't really want to pick a fight over this but ...
Are you arguing that only men can be homophobic? Who knew.
Never seen that video, but now you argue that seeing a guy in girl's underwear is horrible enough to induce projectile vomiting in any decent person. That's not a message I would get behind. However I don't want to pick on SHIMONETA or anime in general over this. This sort of thing has been around forever and probably will hang around as long as we have rom-com tropes. For example Ace Ventura Pet Detective uses the same humor which Jim Carrey used brilliantly. You recall the stunt with the toilet plunger? (who could forget it was hilarious) Basically the joke there was that the idea of a man kissing another man was so gross that licking out a toilet bowl could be seen as a remedy in comparison. |

Of course not. I'm saying that while it would be reasonable to assume that in the case of men looking at another man in their underwear and having a reaction of disgust, that isn't the same if it is a woman looking at a man as was the case for many of the passengers. If a woman sees a man in his underwear and shows disgust, the go to reason is not that she is homophobic.
It also isn't the message I wrote. Maybe you should go reread what I wrote until your reading comprehension doesn't fail you. |

HaruhiToy I don't think homophobia was the show's intent. I think the joke was that Goriki's particular physique looked awful in a bra and panty set. If he had a slimmer, more typically bishonen look, some of the passengers might've fawned over him. In any case the joke wasn't all that funny yo begin with, and then it went on way too long.

Exactly. This is a character that was intentionally drawn to be unattractive. He is likened to a gorilla by other characters in the anime. He isn't suppose to be some one you want to see in any kind of underwear. |

Not sure what is meant by being able to stomache smelly panties fetish. They show was kind of saying it was gross right, especially with a quote from the villain.

I don't get why Sox is so opposed to recruiting Hyouka, the (mad?) scientist girl. She's one of the funniest characters, and has consistently been helpful to Sox and a proponent of their cause. She would have been more loyal than Kosumi. The only reasons I can think of is the in show reason: they just don't like her, and the meta reason: she's funnier if she's kept ignorant. It's too bad, she's really one of the best characters!

Seemed like it to me.
I think that is really it. Having her join would essentially destroy her current character. I think there is a good chance that will happen eventually though. |

He doesn't actually admit this. That's a wrong choice of words on Funimation's part. He says he looks up to/respects her, not that he loves her. |

Has anyone here read the source novels for this? I wonder if it elaborates on certain details, like how White Peak was able to gather an army of followers (compared to SOX's small team).

Haven't read the novels, but Ayame has been shown to be very selective regarding SOX membership, while Gathered Fabric apparently accepts anyone with an underwear fetish.

Together with the episode that featured the "love nectar" rainbow, this was the best episode indeed. The dirty jokes were funny again, it finally ended up this arc that was really hit or miss (but at least helped to establish the ideology of SOX), display of some surprisingly well animated action scenes (that dickslap, though), more of Anna outrageous behaviour (Best Girl of 2015), and a touching (?) speech/rant about how dick jokes and porn are right because they are wrong. Ah, I can't wait for the physical release and the dub (if there's one, C'MON FUNI!).
Now what will happen in the last episode? Maybe they'll go back with the prohibition law again, a final showdown against Anna's mother. I just want to laugh as hard as possible in this last episode and the show will be a 10/10 to me. |

I didn't think they'd be able to turn this arc around, but this ep was pretty funny.

I seem to be a little less impressed with this episode (11) than Theron and you guys. It had some interesting points to it.
Détente with Anna, is it? I don't see that working out. Particularly with Tanukichi and Ayame pretty much declaring for each other. (Rarely has a choice been more clear.) Kosuri redeemed? Well OK. I was wrong about her playing a double-game but I suppose I am fine with her learning her lesson. Did anyone else catch that last frame of her on the bench under Ayame where she basically is drawn spoiler[as an ejaculating penis?] Oy. Maybe someone besides me can screen-cap that. One other problem with SHIMONETA that I and everyone else has been ignoring is that those PM things around everyone's neck don't seem to do anything. About the only effect they have on the story is that they somehow force Otome to draw everything with her mouth. With the feds so obviously unconcerned about anyone's civil rights you would think they would have used them somehow to fight SOX and the other terrorists. If SOX can get away with all the things they do while wearing them what good are they to the story? |
