Holy guacamole, Kadokawa went from bad to worse. Yes, it's good that Funimation's rights were taken away, but with this, Interspecies Reviewers is irretrievably blocked in Latin America.

I hope Tylor including the Spanish dub can lead to more NA anime releases having the Spanish version on them.

I’m going to hold off on a preorder (though I did stick with an Utena boxed set preorder, even after the huge delay) but it’s really great to see that Tylor is coming to Blu-Ray.

I guess it's neat that Reviewers got picked up again. I dunno, that show just got ruined for me when ep 3 dropped a massive bomb of transphobic stereotypes.

The problem with this though is that almost everyone I've heard mention this has said the manga and anime differ in certain respects so even if they did do the research on the manga it would've very likely still lead to the same circumstances.
Well sure if you're not afraid of giving your brand exposure for reasons you're not proud of.
It's not hate though. Unless someone at Funimation responsible for the decision came out and said they hate what the series represents and what it focuses on how are we then supposed to argue what happened to the show is the result of hate?
Nowadays? America has for years had a bit of problem with sex or things deemed too racy in this country. This isn't something that just started 4-5 years ago. Though I do think people tend to generalize and overreact when it comes to this topic. I also wouldn't go too far in praising Japan vs America especially when it comes to things like how sex and romantic relationships are viewed simply because of how those are treated in specific mediums. Especially given Japan's declining population and perception of LGBTQ people in the REAL world. |

I knew someone would pick Interspecies Reviewers up for home release, I just thought it would be Discotek for some reason.

Glad to finally get some concrete details on the Tylor Blu-ray. I'm not really interested in super-fancy releases myself, so I'll be waiting for something more basic.

Tylor is a great series.
However I will stick with the release I already own on DVD. Unless additional information comes out showing this release is leaps above the previous releases. But if your patient enough.. you'll get it cheaper.. RS loves to release Tylor.. over and over and over. Good luck on it though. |

I did not expect that Interspecieis Reviewers would be sold under Critical Mass (and thus requiring the warning page, etc) because not even Sentai sold Domestic Girlfriend nor The Qwaser of Stigmata under their 18+ labels when Domestic Girlfriend had many explicit sexual intercourse scenes and Qwaser is infamous for its titty milk sucking scenes. It would also be strange selling under their porn label while still retaining the few bits of mosaic censorship
The manga after the first vol is just as explicit / risque as the anime. Check it out for yourself in the amazon previews: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZL61MYC
by "falling outside of their standards" it is assumed they hate the sexual politics represented, i.e. legalized prostitution and sexual tourism, because otherwise their only job as professionals should be to translate (and dub). However they're going a step further and judging the content of the show and so the only logical conclusion is that they hate the content since any so called standard would be subjective |

Don't think its the type of show they'd like. They tend to tone down/censor stuff on their releases. |

There may be more topless shots when compared to earlier volumes, but there's still no "on screen" sex scenes like in the anime. The manga is less explicit than Qwaser (since you brought it up) imo (though not by a crazy degree), while the anime is more on the level of soft core (on screen sex, but no genitals shown). It's not hentai, but it's basically one step away from it. The manga is definitely not as explicit as the anime. I haven't seen Domestic so I can't compare it to that, but RS and Sentai are obviously different companies, so they're standards and the labels the want to release content under are going to be different. |

Are we thinking of the same Discotek? The Discotek I know of had the first English home video release of Angel Cop to keep the antisemitism in the subtitles. |

Also the same Discotek who released Violence Jack on DVD and included what was available of the uncensored footage as an extra due to being taken from different sources. |

I don't know where you heard that, but it's flat-out wrong. Discotek NEVER censors anything on their releases. Having bought and watched a lot of the stuff they licensed, I can assure you for a fact that they don't censor anything. Hell, they literally announced not too long ago that they're releasing that old adult-rated 70s anime movie Cleopatra and found a way to include both the censored and uncensored movie covers in their upcoming release. |
