Naw, I meant basing it off of an existing story, that's all.

Wouldn't Winter technically begin 2010? Unless you're going to start a new series right before Christmas, which is a completely asinine time. So I'd say this is probably coming out January 2010 and it will be a TV series. Then Sunrise wasn't liars because they said there wouldn't be a TV series THIS year (2009).

Mainstream anime like Gundam usually start airing in April and October, not January. And I'd say Unicorn isn't exactly very suitable for airing on TV either, at least not its usual slot, considering its mature overtones and depiction of rape.

Ok, so let me get this straight...they consider October to be the winter?! Rolling Eyes On the other hand, a November/December release would seem to indicate that this could more likely be a movie. But I seriously doubt a country that airs porn at 8 in the evening on basic TV is going to sweat Gundam Unicorn on TV.

If it IS a series, and is an edgy one at that, well I would say Syfy has a decent follow-up to Gundam 00 Season 2! (Pending Manga license, of course.) Would that mean Ani-Monday is slowly becoming the Gundam Network?!? Very Happy

...October is the start of the fall season. IIRC, the Winter season starts up right after the week-long New Years crap in January. As for mainstream stuff starting in April/October... well, that just means a mainstream title starting up in January will have that much less competition.

Honestly... this needs to be a television series. If F91 taught us anything, it's that 12 anime-episodes of material can't be condensed very well. And Unicorn? There are ten volumes out there. There's enough to try and cram 2-3 chapters into every episode. A 50-episode anime would be just about right for that amount of material.

Anything less wouldn't be able to do the novels justice.

As for the reasons people have given for Unicorn not being able to fit into an anime....

1. It'd be too hard to animate. Not true. Unicorn's a simple design. As for the panel lines... show 'em up close, remove 'em far away. It's a pretty simple idea. The Exia was a more complex design. And after the quality we had with 00, I think the level of animation quality present currently is more than up to the challenge.

2. Graphic depictions of rape. Actually, Unicorn does not depict rape. The closest thing to that is Marida Cruz's backstory, where it's mentioned she worked as a prostitute after Toto's rebellion failed (ZZ). In an anime, the most we would get would be a light implication, or allusion--but probably not even that. Like I said, it's background stuff--really doesn't have anything to do with the story. And, hell, tons of anime have had implied rape in the past. Most notable Code Geass and Fullmetal Alchemist.

3. Only 1 gundam/model sales. Well, actually there are two. Four, if you realize we'll probably see seperate models for normal and DESTROY modes. As for there already being a MG unicorn... the anime would drive sales up, and rev up demand for the up coming Damashii line--not to mention the fact that UC grunts also sell well, particularly those piloted by Char Aznables.

The biggest reason I see not to make Unicorn into a series is the same reason I see not to animate Unicorn at all: the hideous, god-forsaken engrish. Full Frontal? Really?
