Well in that case, no need for the original voice cast either.

Technically, no, but come on, Mitsuishi is still awesome and Furuya hasn't aged.

These two, Hisakawa, Ogata and... some villains I guess.
The rest are retired, rarely act and generally are... well, old.
A VA shakeup would probably be a good thing since they're going the whole "all new" anyway.

The entire original manga is 60 acts, thus 60 core episodes. However, 60 episodes seems like an awkward number to finish a series run on. I'm looking at Toei adapting some of the short stories to help round out the number to 65.

Or maybe they will animate the Sailor V episodes... Confused

First FMA, then HxH, and now SM. Here's to hoping the next Manga-accurate adaptation will be "Shaman King."

I totally want to see that happening!

OMG I NEVER EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT THAT.

I imagine the original had some filler story lines, so to remake the original would mean to include those story's as well.

You mean the whole Doom Tree Arc? LOL

now the question that I have is, are they planning to animate everything on the go or are we getting seasons?

I'm assuming that they'll make the different arcs into different seasons and that the first season will deal with the first arc in the manga.

I doubt they can afford multiple seasons.

Honestly, the filler episodes in the original anime were my favourite part, since they were usually hella-funny, and you usually got some fun slice-of-life elements. Not that the serious arc episodes really followed the manga all that closely, since the manga hadn't yet been published when the anime was in production so all they had to go with were vague outlines. For the most part, I actually prefer the story in the Sailor Moon anime to that of the manga, which got awfully convoluted IMHO.

I'm almost sure it was like one of the first things mentioned.

Anyway, this of course means much less screentime for a lot of the awesome villains of the series like the Witches 5. But thankfully less of Tiger's Eye.

Don't underestimate just how expensive anime production gets.

No, what they said was "We're not remaking the first anime"
They didn't say ANYTHING about adapting the original manga. For all we knew, it was a continuation to the end of the original anime.

Anyway
BEST
NEWS
OF THE YEAR
This means we'll be getting this, like Takeuchi intended...

I think "from scratch" (ゼロから) is a pretty conclusive evidence they aren't doing a sequel series.

But "zero kara" could have meant "from nothing," which meant that it could have been an "original" series, not the original manga.

Just read the whole story, alright?

I think you don't understand.
Over a year ago, they announced they would be doing the anime. They said they would not be remaking the original anime AT THIS TIME over a year ago.

With this announcement, they've clarified that they are adapting the manga, and not making a continuation or original series, or whatever.

People on this thread continue to say "But they already announced this"
But in fact, the fact that they're adapting Takeuchi's manga faithfully was never announced before.
