No? 3rd Birthday was a continuation of the series involving two major characters from the second game.

The mechanics were fine, the issue was it abandoned the city setting for a rural podunk ranch in the middle of the desert. The game picked up again when you got to the secret lab. If the whole game was like the beginning part it'd have been way better.
