I can see it now. After a bill like that passes, Disney consolidates its hold in Japan. With thousands of manga artists and animators suddenly without a job and animation houses out of business, Disney/Pixar rush to fill the vacuum with wholesome entertainment. The face of Akihabara is changed overnight. Gothic Lolitas dissapear as Disney Princess fashions boom. Ganguro take a bath.

Die Gedanken Sind Frei. I thought the whole point of breaking bad habits is not doing them in public/to non-consenting others, etc. So if someone is able to satisfy their desires with a drawing & never, ever, ever have to harm a real being, isn't that GOOD? Chris Handley had been doing it for a bit with no indication he ever had harmed a living being so it appears it was working. If NAMBLA is happy with drawings of little boys, more power to them. I thought the problem is they aren't. They DO want their neighbors' boys in some sort of self-centered perception their lusts & desires over-ride the child's best interest to grow up to an age of consent where the boy can decide if he wishes to engage in such behavior or not. Part of the problem with the UN proposal is it flies in the face of reality. You do have a certain number of teens who are willingly doing this stuff. I believe it was pointed out on another one of these threads one is in more trouble for taking a picture of one's under-age lover than actually having sex with one's teen-aged lover. |

Oh my fiend you couldn't much wronger than that. I for one am no one's troller, I can't speak for the other person however I will say this. I don't have time to respond to everyone who disagree with me. I stand by what I said, I stand by what I sad, pass the bill before June.

It won't stay dead. It will pop back up eventually. With the growing "concern" over the subject and the policies over in Japan I'm sure the UN will keep the pressure on (instead of worrying about real world issues). Plus this has all been a topic that has been ongoing for a while now. I fully expect either a new bill to pop up or for this one to be modified and brought back up itself. Hell, I expect more legislature of this kind to pop up here in the states themselves.
That's sort of a requirement here in these parts. That you EXPLAIN your opinions and not just post and run. If you do that well you are in fact trolling basically. It's actually quite easy to explain yourself without respond to EVERY single response you get. |

Listen, I said what I said because I believe in it. I don't duck or dodge anyone and I do apologize for not responding as fast as you might however I do have things I have to take care of that doesn't revolve around a controversial bill that the majority populous of the forums of ANN doesn't support. You can have all the sex in Anime all you want, hell I'm in favor of that as long as it doesn't involve underage children.

Gosh. I really am glad you have chosen to allow me "all the sex in Anime" I want... except ones that involve (fictional) underage children. That's really swell. Magnanimous, even! But human nature does exactly that. A century or so back, people thought nothing of 15 yr old brides. Juliet's practically an old maid according to her mother. It was last century when the push came to protect children, but a teen isn't really a child, is it? I remember all too well the frustration of being seen as a child when I knew I wasn't as immature & irresponsible as I had been when I was 8 or 10. Yes, I understand now as mature as I thought I was, I was not as mature as I am now, but life itself is a progression. What was the trick in Splash? Wasn't it dropping change for an excuse to look up a girl's skirt? I've heard Pee-wee Herman's night club costume included mirrors on the shoes. What's the point of the avereage teen flick as they're known as? I thought it's usually a character who hasn't had sex seeks to have sex & they're usually in high school which makes them underage children with the whole movie gloryfying their cause to no longer be a virgin by the movie's end. So when you're protesting underage children in manga having sex, you're suggesting Japanese artists can't portray those same horny teens trying to score. If you expect your teen to have sex before marriage, they probably will. If you teach your child sex is not something casual, they'll probably think twice before sleepoing with everyone they date & at least look to only have sex with whoever they think they love. However, Tamahome & Miaka are not real. If they have sex it is not underage children having sex, but some lines on a paper forming an image the artist is trying to portray. Unless the artist is using a live model in which case the artist would be exploiting real children & should be prosecuted. |
