a Netflix anime on BD in the US? How rare!!! Now give me Violet Evergarden...

but Violet Evergarden isn't a Netflix production... It wasn't exclusively on Netflix and it was produced by KyoAni, Lantis, Pony Canyon, per the credits (Netflix is not listed). It's probably just licensing contracts as usual. If Pony Canyon is still in the North Amercan game, I'd expect them to release it themselves after any timed N.A. contract ends with Netflix if it was negotiated (at it probably was here) or sublicense it to someone else,

I don't consider PonyCan USA in the North American anime industry anymore.

Honestly thought Manga UK were going to license Demon Slayer!

Here’s hoping AL pick up The Promised Neverland
I thought Anime Limited ussaly pick up Aniplex titles.

This logic probably has to do with FUNi buying out Manga UK last year and the recent deal with the show in the states.

There better be a US release of Eva and Planetes at some point. The UK is so lucky.

I think you mean an HD version of those 2 series seeing as they were both releasd on DVD here back in the day.

Fixed as neither were upscaled (other than that one Eva episode).

While I'm not interested in B, it's a good sign to see that these Netflix shows will be coming to BD.

I've thought of getting a region free BD player to pick up some Aniplex titles, but never bit the bullet. I might have to at this point though (and then I can pick up all those releases...). Maybe ANN could put together something with some suggestions in the future?

Would love it if someone would do this for Devilman Crybaby. It's the only Netflix show so far that I felt the need to have in my collection.

B the Beginning was alright, and I definitely appreciate it being one of the few Netflix shows not trying to push the awkward CG anime look. Might pick it up if the price is right.

Well, at least it is a good news for UK anime/manga enthusiasts.

B: The Beginning was pretty good, if feeling a little disjointed like 2 separate shows smuched together in an attempt to make one.

But the big takeaway I got from this article is that they're bringing PLANETES on BD! Holy cow what I wouldn't give if we could get a US release on BD too.

Ugh! How is that Planetes has not gotten a US BD yet? This is one of the few early digipaint shows that has a really great looking upscale.

Very jealous.

Evangelion TV series and End of Evangelion NEEDS a Blu-ray release in the US ASAP! I'm tired of holding on to these outdated DVD versions.

Not an upscale, despite being early 2000s, Sunrise produced a few HD shows at that point with Planetes being one of them.

Glad someone was able to license Evangelion.
The Blu-ray looks great (besides that one unfortunate episode)
Hope their packaging design is better than the Japanese one.

Hopefully some of these like Eva, Planetes, and that Bartender anime can make their way over to the US. We also need someone to finally rescue license Monster.
