I think I've figured out why Yoshihiro Togashi keeps going on breaks from drawing HunterxHunter. There was a comment in volume 18 about a bunch of pages being redrawn. I think it may very well be possible that he's going back and redrawing the chapters that were originally done when his hand/arm was messed up before they are released in volume format. This would explain the delay between volume releases and the constant breaks from the serialization. Feel free to shout me down if I'm wrong, but it sort of makes sense, unless I'm missing details that are out there.
PS> I've also heard that he goes on 'vacation' when a big RPG comes out, but I'm not sure if I believe that or not.

Truth is the man is lazy as hell. Check Yuyu Hakusho's 2nd half and you'll notice his 'hand' was messed up back then too.

Nice to see Mx0 doing well, we don't need this to end early like his previous manga Pretty Face. I just hope they wait until 09 before making an anime adaption.

Yes, because it's completely inconceivable that someone might injure their hand twice in their lifetime.

I thought HXH #25 was already released! I guess the last one was #24 then. Shows how much I know.....
But in any case, I guess it would make sense if he's going back and re-drawing all of those chapters. They were in desperate need of it, that's for sure.....

HxH volumes seem to be coming out bi-annually nowadays. I fully expect him to serialize 10-11 chapters then go back on hiatus until the next volume comes out. If they would just move him to Monthly Jump or Jump SQ the volumes'd come out at the same rate and he'd have plenty of time to work on each chapter.

I gave up on HxH when the quality of the art became too poor to overlook. I sure hope that he's going back to fix those chapters before they get released. I know i wouldnt buy them the way they are.

To my knowledge, Hunter x Hunter's weekly release chapters are rough drafts, which Togashi goes back and redraws for volume releases. I'm still an avid reader of Hunter x Hunter, though with the recent post-hiatus work, it seems to be losing its luster with the narration rather than character-driven dialogue. I'm happy that Hunter x Hunter is still being released, and I'm interested to see what happens when Viz catches up (should happen before the end of the year). Hopefully the quality will increase and this new arc will end soon so we can get back to something interesting.

Yes, his art does seem to be better in the volumes themselves than in the actual Jump releases. I noticed this myself when I was given the opportunity to read a couple chapters when I was back in Japan. Anyways, I'm glad that One Piece has come out on top, it's another spectacular volume in the ongoing story of One Piece.
