So why in the name of Xenu are the BD's for Kurokami: The Animation dub-only?

But now I guess I'll bite: why?

To be a bit less cryptic about it, in case you aren't aware... America and Japan are in the same region for Blu-Ray releases. This makes it very, very viable for the Japanese to import our Blu releases, instead of paying inflated Japanese prices, and just turning the subs off.

Therefore, paranoid liscensors are making some odd demands of us to ensure the domestic product sells... this is one of them.

The dub is good. I bought them as they were being released. No regrets.

I regret not buying the blurays when Bandai had the really cheap bundle just before they closed up their store. :/

I saw the dub too. It wasn't bad, but I like having options. I suppose I would be disinclined to buy these anyway because I cannot justify ordering six BD's for a series like this, at least if it's not all in one box set.

At any rate, if that's the case, why are we seeing bilingual BD's at all? Or, more appropriately, why not Kurokami in particular?

Different strokes for different folks.

It's all tied up in the various ins and outs of bringing things over... different shows involve different companies wanting different things for different prices. Most shows are going to be bilingual and soft-subbed, just becuase the US guys know it's what we want, so they'll push for it. It just won't always work depending on whose involved. This is a case where it didn't work. We'll probably never know the details.

Pretty sure this was a (failed) experiment for Bandai where they had simultaneous release here and in Japan for Kurokami. As with any release that comes close to the Japanese release date, it gets handicapped somehow. This one being dub-only.
