Well, that explains it. Maybe he should change it up from time to time. I'm sure his fans would love pro voice actors to be in his movies. If not, then that's cool. Awesome movie will continue to be awesome.

Honorable mention to Digimon Adventure: Bokura no War Game!

Hosoda probably would know that a voice actor may even get busy voicing two or more roles in two or more different anime that air in the same season.

Think he was trying to say politely (by not saying it) he's not a fan of over acting like "pro actors" do in anime. Watch he's movies, he clearly prefers a more monotone and realistic performance in his movies.

He did use Miyano Mamoru though in Bakemono no Ko. But we all know why he may have made that choice.

I'm fine with that. Hosoda trying to make his works appeal to all people, not just otaku.
I like all voices in Bakemono no Ko.

I think that's bull*hit. If anime producers can book seiyū schedules very successfully, why cannot Hosoda?

He uses star actors the same reason Ghibli does: to get more people to watch his movie. Everybody knows movie actors, nobody (except otaku) knows seiyūs.

So? xD You're making it sound like it's a bad thing that he's trying to get popular actors to promote his work.

And Idk, busy schedules sound like a very fair reason to me, even if it's not exciting. And Bakemono no Ko featured both movie actors and seiyuu (Miyano Mamoru, one of the most popular ones?), so I don't really see the issue. His movies are good as they are, I've never had issues with the voice acting.

It's a interesting development but I would think this would be a plus for those debuting. Or I thought that it would be too costly. But he should try. It's kind of like saying, well they have busy schedules so...I won't bother. But hey these are his reasons like it or not.

Pro voice actors have several gigs scheduled all the time.

It's probably hard to schedule when everyone having a whole day free (meaning no time limits in order to go to another gig) at the same time.
