Oh shoot, I forgot all about this one.

I've only played one FM game (4, I think), but liked it pretty well. Hopefully this one is even better.

FM1 is alright, but you really need to play it as 2 has a side arc that deals with the aftermath of the OCU side (not to mention the daughter of a certain character seen in both FM 1 and 4 is playable).

As Hoppy800 hints at, all of the games are interconnected, especially the main numbered entries. 4 is my favorite, but I liked 1st well enough and will probably buy it again, since I love the overall franchise. I hope remakes/remasters of 4 and especially 5 will be considered for future releases.

I wouldn't really say they're all interconnected, more like they have lots of eastern egg. 5 is the only one I'd say require playing the other one since its kinda like a "best of" where you go to many of the theater explored in previous game.

No Front Mission Alternative remake? That one needs it the most, outside of FM II barely being fan-translated.

Well, what I meant by that was that many characters and events (but mostly characters) appear or are referenced across different games. The stories are standalone, though. it's a bit like the Ys series that way: you can play any one individually, but will get more enjoyment if you've played others in the series.

Kinda bummed it's digital-only, but maybe we'll get a 2-in-1 cart later, after FM2R comes out.
