Wonder who Funimation (Yes, I said it!! NOT Crunchyroll) will have voice Suletta Mercury, since she is identified as MENA. Are they planning on having Suletta speaking with an accent?

Suletta is an anime character living many centuries in the future in space.

And this is why they should 1) let remote dub work continue as it had during the height of the pandemic, and 2) actually plan some slack into their schedule, getting 2 to 4 episodes ahead of the release schedule dubbed and queued up, instead of trying to do JIT dubbing. Either, and especially both, of those things would make all but the most apocalyptic weather events a non-issue.

I suppose I can't single Funi-roll out too much on this silliness though, almost no business seems to value reliability anymore, they all think it costs too much.

And she identifies as MENA, so she should be cast appropriately

We should also make a big noise every time a non Japanese character is voiced by a Japanese VA. Can't have them not towing the line.

There is just absolutely nothing in this world that will please you people huh? CR deserves flak for certain things but this shit and the silly Gundam drama isn't one.

While we're at it, let's throw shades at Sally Amaki, a Japanese woman, voicing a white girl in the English dub. Totally not fair for white people!

I feel the need to put this disclaimer for everybody: This comment is 100% sarcasm.

I don't think they have the option to work far ahead of schedule most of the time unless the anime industry itself changes, since the final cut from Japan is usually not delivered until shortly before broadcast. There are notable exceptions where they do have the materials far enough ahead of time to release same day dubs, like Tomo-chan this season and Fruits Basket previously, but most of the time they don't have the whole show available before it starts airing and, thus, need to do the dub as it is airing.

I personally think they should also use recording studios and talent outside of Texas as well! One single batch of talent isn't enough for one anime season.

Hoping the cast and crew are doing ok tho despite my gripes with sonyroll.

I'm sorry but these dubbing companies are not reliable at all. I never know if I am going to get an episode each week. I think I am going back to subtitles. Not only are many of the dubs questionable quality but the constant delays each season is too much.

Why does being MENA equate to speaking with an accent? Wtf?

Back in the day it was like years after a show came out in Japan before the dub was made and you had to watch it like two episodes on VHS for $40. You'll live having to wait one week for a new episode. The safety of the voice actors is more important than instant gratification.

Modern anime fans have it so good, which has unfortunately made for a lot of entitled people who complain about the smallest inconvenience.

Crunchyroll Latin America also delayed the dubs for many of their shows during the last weeks of December and early January (Spy X Family, Blue Lock, among others), and they didn't give any explanations why, but at least most of their dubs are quite good so they're worth the wait. Although in the last few days they made some weird decisions, like relasing the LatAm dubs for Trigun Stampede and NieR Automata without any prior notice, and they also released their own dub for Vinland Saga Season 2 with a different cast from the Netflix dub of Season 1 (though I know the same thing happened in English and French). Ever since Funimation merged with CR things have changed a lot

Maybe there's this thing called Christmas and New Year's?
