MangaGamer Licenses Higurashi Hou, Myth Visual Novels

Visual novel publisher MangaGamer announced at its panel at Anime Boston on Friday that it has licensed the visual novels Higarashi When The Cry Hou and MYTH.
MangaGamer plans to release Higarashi When The Cry Hou (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Hō) as 14 individual chapters via Steam. These chapters include:
- Four Question Arcs
- Four Answer Arcs (Higurashi Kai)
- The three Higurashi Rei arcs
- Hinamizawa Teiryuujyo, the
- Higurashi Outbreak
- The Kamikanshi Chapter
The first chapter, Onikakushi, will be available on May 15 for US$5.99.
The game will have the option to switch between old and new sprites, as well as English and Japanese text. The original background music has been restored.
Series creator Ryūkishi07 and his doujin circle 07th Expansion released the game in Japan last August as a "thank you" to series fans (the kanji used for Hō is used in the word Hōnō, "dedication").
MangaGamer released the original Higurashi: When They Cry (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni) suspense visual novel in 2009.
MYTH is a partially-voiced game developed by the doujin circle circletempo. Luck Ganriki (Umineko, Higanbana, Rose Gun Days) composed the game's soundtrack.
MangaGamer describes the story:
In the highly acclaimed doujin title MYTH, players follow a protagonist who lives in the "world of light", a world without shadows. He encounters a girl with a shadow and begins exploring the darkness of another realm with her. The deeper you dig, the more mysteries and terrors you'll find hidden beneath the bright surface. Drawing on Norse mythology, this intricate tale holds many surprises waiting to be uncovered.
The game will be available via Steam as both an adult game and an all-ages game.
