This year's 20th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed on Monday that Konami's Yu-Gi-Oh! game slated for release this summer for the Nintendo 3DS will be titled Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters Saikyō no Card Battle (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters Strongest Card Battle).
Additionally, the issue previewed the designs of some of the game's original characters. The new characters include:
- The game's unnamed male protagonist
- Guide-san, a character who teaches and supports players in the game
- Strong Nineteen, a "power type" duelist who uses monsters with high attack points
- Psychic Tendō, a duelist who freely manipulates psychic-type monsters and attacks using any means necessary
Konami announced the game in December and confirmed in January that the game will get a global release.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links (pictured at right) will launch for iOS and Android later this month, and the Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Game (working title) for consoles and PC will follow this winter. Konami has also confirmed that these two games will get a global release.
Also in winter, the console game Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist and mobile game Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Generation will both receive major updates.
The Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions film will open on April 23 in Japan, and in late 2016 outside of Japan. The film has sold the highest number of pre-sale tickets of any Toei film.
