Rewrite 2nd Season's Commercial Reveals January 14 Premiere

The official website for the Rewrite television anime revealed a key visual, commercial, and premiere dates for Rewrite 2nd Season Moon-Hen/Terra-Hen (Rewrite 2nd Season Moon Arc/Terra Arc), the second anime season based on Visual Art's/Key's original visual novel, on Thursday. (Note: The 15-second commercial is region-locked outside of Japan.)

The series will premiere on Saturday, January 14 at 11:30 p.m. on Tokyo MX, BS11, GTV, and Tochigi TV. It will also air on MBS, and stream on AT-X, Niconico Channel, Bandai Channel, Hikari TV, Video Market, Anime Hōdai, U-Next, d Anime Store, GYAO!, dTV, and Geo Channel.

The anime is based on the visual novel of the same name by Visual Art's/Key, and the cast returned from the game:

  • Masakazu Morita as Kotarō Tennōji
  • Chiwa Saito as Kotori Kanbe
  • Saya Shinomiya as Chihaya Ohtori
  • Eri Kitamura as Akane Senri
  • Keiko Suzuki as Shizuru Nanatsu
  • Risa Asaki as Lucia Konohana
  • Kana Hanazawa as Kagari

Tensho (Kinmoza! Kiniro + Mosaic, The Fruit of Grisaia) directed the anime at 8-bit and also supervised the series scripts. Romeo Tanaka (Cross Channel scenario, Humanity Has Declined) and Visual Art's Kai (Clannad scenario, Grim Reaper Kyou) are credited with collaborating on the composition and scripts. Masayuki Nonaka (Hello!! KINMOZA chief animation director, The Fruit of Grisaia main animator) adapted the game's original character designs by Visual Art's/Key's Itaru Hinoue (Kanon, Air, Clannad, Little Busters!) for animation.

The anime premiered on July 2 with a one-hour special first episode. The anime aired on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, MBS, and BS11. Crunchyroll streamed the anime in North America, Central America, South America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

Visual Art's/Key opened a countdown website for a "Rewrite New Project" on Monday.
