Netflix Adds Gantz:O CG Anime Film With English Dub

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

Netflix in the United States added the GANTZ:O 3D CG anime film on Saturday. The film is available in both Japanese and English audio, with English, Japanese, French, Spanish, and Traditional Chinese subtitles. The film is based on Hiroya Oku's Gantz manga.

The film lists Bob Buchholz as dialogue translator and director, along with the following English dub cast:

The film opened in Japan in October, but first premiered at the 73rd Venice Film Festival. The Japanese screenings featured 4DX and MX4D screenings alongside conventional screenings. The film also featured as a special program at the 29th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) from October 25 to November 3 last year.

Keiichi Satou (Tiger & Bunny, Asura) was the chief director for the film, and Yasushi Kawamura (Appleseed: Ex Machina CGI director) directed the film. Tsutomu Kuroiwa (One Piece Film Gold script) wrote the screenplay, Yoshihiro Ike (Karas, Tiger & Bunny, The Empire of Corpses) composed the music, and Digital Frontier handled production.

The original manga followed a young Tokyo man named Kei who is reanimated after a deadly subway accident. Kei and other resurrected people go on violent, seemingly endless missions at the behest of an unseen host. The GANTZ:O film depicts the Osaka arc in which the Tokyo and Osaka mission teams take on the subjugation of the Yōkai Army.
