posted on by Rai Kelly

Aniplex of America announced at Bang Zoom! Entertainment's Anime Central panel on Friday that it is producing an English dub of March comes in like a lion. Bang Zoom! Entertainment will hold open auditions Friday through Sunday from 11 am to 12:15 pm at Anime Central, with call back auditions in the afternoon.

The story of March comes in like a lion follows Rei, a solitary player of shōgi (a Japanese board game related to Western chess), and his relationships with a neighboring family. He becomes acquainted with Akari, and two young girls, Hinata and Momo, who also have have a large number of cats.

The first March comes in like a lion television anime series premiered on NHK in Japan in October, 2016 and ran for two consecutive cours or half a year (with a total of 22 episodes) before ending in March. Crunchyroll and Daisuki streamed the anime. A second season of the anime is green-lit and will premiere this October.

The manga also inspired two live-action films starring Ryunosuke Kamiki in the lead role, and Keishi Ōtomo directing. The films opened in Japan on March 18 and April 22.

Umino started the manga series in Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine in 2007, and Hakusensha shipped the 12th compiled volume in September. The series has won several awards including the Manga Taisho award and Kodansha Manga award in 2011. The manga also won the 18th Tezuka Osamu Prizes' Top Award in March 2014.
