Himouto! Umaro Chan Released Monday

posted on by Andrew Osmond

On Monday July 10, Animatsu will release Himouto! Umaro Chan as a Blu-ray/DVD Collector's Edition. The series adapts Sankaku Head's manga of the same name. The sibling gag comedy manga centers around Umaru (voiced by Aimi Tanaka), Taihei's (Kenji Nojima) little sister who boasts beautiful looks as well as prowess in both school and sports. However, she has a certain secret. "Himōto" is a pun on "imōto" (little sister) and "himono," which means "dried fish," but in slang can refer to a woman who is proper in public but lazy at home.

Masahiko Ohta (Yuruyuri, Kotoura-san) directed the series off scripts by Takashi Aoshima (Yuruyuri, Kotoura-san) at Doga Kobo (Engaged to the Unidentified, Laughing Under the Clouds). Yasunori Ebina (Yuruyuri, Fruits Basket) served as sound director and Aya Takano (Polar Bear's Café) designed the characters and served as chief animation director.

On Monday July 3, Funimation will release Attack on Titan: Junior High as both a Collector's Blu-ray edition (pictured) and a DVD. Funimation described the series:

Your favorite characters from Attack on Titan are back in… junior high school? Adapted from the hit spinoff manga series – Attack on Titan: Junior High (written by Saki Nakagawa), this parody reimagines Eren, Mikasa, Armin, and other characters from the original manga as students and teachers at Titan Junior High School.

Yoshihide Ibata (Ashiaraiyashiki no Jūnin-tachi, episode director for Kill la Kill, Haikyu!!) directed the series at Production I.G Midori Gotou (Hozuki's Coolheadedness, Genshiken: Second Generation) handled the series composition.

Manga Entertainment will release Samurai Warriors. Funimation has previously described the story:

Based on the hit video game, this dramatic re-imagining of one of Japan's most revered historical periods drops audiences into the middle of an epic battle royal. Great warriors and dashing rogues from cherished Japanese tales come to life in this rousing series. Follow along as your favorite hacking, slashing characters from the video game meet once more on the field of battle.

Manga Entertainment will also release a Complete Season Blu-ray edition of Mirai Nikki - Future Diary, including the 26 episodes of the TV series. The series depicts a "Diary Game", in which human contestants are given special diaries that can predict the future, and participate in a battle royale to the death.

Studio Canal will release a Double Play Blu-ray/DVD edition of the 1993 Studio Ghibli film Ocean Waves.
