Manga adapts novels by Hybrid x Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia creator

The August issue of Kadokawa's Dragon Age magazine revealed last week that Kakashi Oniyazu will launch a manga adaptation of Masamune Kuji and Tsukune Taira's Ecstas Online light novel series in the manga's September issue on August 9.

The novels' story centers on Kakeru Dōmeguri a loner who is at the lowest caste of his school. A certain incident makes him reincarnate as the Dark Lord Helschaft, who exists inside the virtual reality game "Exodia Exodus," though he also has the ability to turn back into human form. RIRIKO Asagiri, a girl who Kakeru has long had a crush on, is also trapped in the game, along with her classmates, who all swear a vow to defeat Helschaft and get back to their world. However, if Helschaft dies, everyone's lives will be in danger, so Kakeru/Helschaft meets them in battle. The other characters include Shūko Aikawa, Kakeru's boss at his part-time job in the real world, and Helschaft's slave in the game; and Non Shizukuishi, a sharp-tongued cool girl who is interested in Helschaft.

Kuji and launched the first volume of the novel series with illustrations by Taira last September, and Kadokawa published the third volume on June 1. Kuji's Hybrid x Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia (Masō Gakuen H×H) light novel series inspired a television anime adaptation in July 2016. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. Yen Press licensed Riku Ayakawa's manga adaptation, and will release the first volume in October.

Oniyazu launched the Though You May Burn to Ash (Tatoe Hai ni Natte mo) manga in Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine in December 2015. Square Enix published the manga's second compiled book volume on January 25. Yen Press licensed the manga.
