Gou Tanabe's The Shadow Out of Time Manga Ends
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The December issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Beam magazine published the last chapter of Gou Tanabe's The Shadow Out of Time (Toki o Koeru Kage) manga on Monday. The manga is an adaptation of author H.P. Lovecraft's novella of the same name.
The story centers on Nathaniel Wingate Peaslee, a professor of Political Economy at the fictional Miskatonic University. He believes he is suffering from possession by "Yithians," as he constantly lapses into episodes where he views the history of a seemingly alien civilization. His further research into Earth's ancient past only compounds his horror as he discovers that he is not the only one who has suffered from "possession."
Tanabe launched the manga in Monthly Comic Beam on April 12. Kadokawa published the manga's first compiled book volume on August 9.
The manga is part of a series of manga adaptations of H.P. Lovecraft's works by Tanabe. Dark Horse Comics published his H.P. Lovecraft's The Hound and Other Stories manga in August 2017, which includes "The Hound," "The Temple," and "The Nameless City." Tanabe then released manga based on Lovecraft's The Colour Out of Space and The Haunter of the Dark. He also earlier drew an adaptation of Lovecraft's The Outsider.
