Kono Oto Tomare! Manga Gets Stage Play
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The May issue of Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine revealed on Thursday that Amyū's Kono Oto Tomare! manga is inspiring a stage play.
The play will run in Tokyo at the Zenrosai Hall / Space Zero from August 17-25, in Fukuoka at the Momochi Palace on September 7-8, and in Osaka at the Morinomiya Piloti Hall on September 14-15. The play stars Takuma Zaiki as Chika Kudō, Kazuki Furuta as Takezō Kurata, and Hinako Tanaka as Satowa Hōzuki. Naohiro Ise is directing and writing the play.
In the story, Takezō is the last remaining member of the koto club, a club dedicated to the traditional Japanese string instrument. If he doesn't find new members, the koto club will be terminated. One day, Takezō is alone in the club room when a student barges in and demands to join. The student is delinquent Chika Kudō, a boy who even scares delinquent upperclassmen at other schools.
Amyū launched the manga in Jump SQ. in August 2012. The manga is inspiring a television anime that will premiere on Tokyo MX and BS11 on April 6 at 25:00 (effectively April 7 at 1:00 am.), and will air a few days later on WOWOW. The anime will air for two cours or two quarters of a year; the series will air the first half in April, and then the second half will premiere in October.
