Author Helen McCarthy Cancels or Postpones Upcoming UK Talks
posted on by Andrew Osmond
In her online newsletter, the author Helen McCarthy has announced that she has been obliged to cancel or postpone her upcoming talks on anime and manga, due to an accident.
McCarthy had been due to deliver lectures on "The Art of Studio Ghibli" at Dance City in Newcastle (March 16) and Sub89 in Reading (previously March 24, though this event is currently listed as happening on June 1).
She had also been due to deliver a lecture called "The Manga Bible: History, hearsay & facts," at Peckam Levels, London - originally scheduled for March 3, and currently listed as taking place on April 6, but see the comment below.
The author says in her newsletter, "Essentially I'm under house arrest [due to injuries] until at least mid-April. So all my Seed Talks gigs have been cancelled or postponed... Thank you for your understanding and the many kind messages I've received."
Helen McCarthy's new book, The Manga Bible: The definitive guide to contemporary and historical manga is published by Ilex Press on Friday March 5.
