The GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign to support voice actor Mike McFarland following his brain surgery last January revealed on Monday that McFarland has been diagnosed with glioblastoma, brain cancer that originates as a growth of cells in the brain or spinal cord. After attempting assisted living, McFarland is again in the hospital and is moving to a skilled nursing facility to continue treatment.

The campaign has been updated with a new goal for covering his treatment costs. As of press time, the campaign has raised US$189,160 toward its new US$200,000 goal.

Voice actors J. Michael Tatum and Brandon McInnis launched a GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign in January so McFarland could hire a live-in medical assistant, following a successful surgery to remove his brain tumor that month. The campaign surpassed its initial US$65,000 goal as well as its updated goals last January.

Voice actress Colleen Clinkenbeard said that McFarland found about the tumor when he visited the doctor for what he thought was an inner ear infection, later discovering that it was a brain tumor. McFarland had a second brain surgery in April to try and locate an unknown infection.

McFarland has worked as line producer, ADR Director and ADR script adapter for many ADV and later Funimation series including Case Closed, Dragon Ball Z, Eden of the East, Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, One Piece, and the Evangelion film series. His voice acting credits include Master Roshi and Yajirobe in Dragon Ball and its sequels, Makoto Hyuga in the Evangelion film series, Sky Master in Heaven's Lost Property, Goemon Ishikawa in Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine and many Lupin III films, Jean in Attack on Titan, George in Case Closed, and Buggy in One Piece. Some of his more recent roles include protagonist Hiroshi Odokawa in Odd Taxi, Big Bad Wolf in Date A Live IV, and E.G. Mine in Trigun Stampede.
