HypMic Movie Hits 2 Billion Yen Box Office Mark; 'Claim Victory (Immersive Edition)' Exhibition Video Available For a Limited Time

Tokyo(November 3, 2025)- The "HYPNOSISMIC -Division Rap Battle-" movie (hereafter referred to as "HypMovie") began its revival screening at 66 theaters across Japan starting September 2nd, HypMic's anniversary, to commemorate the 8th anniversary of the project's launch. With the revival, HypMovie has finally surpassed the major milestone of 2 billion yen in box office revenue. HypMovie is Japan's "first" interactive movie and made its screen debut on February 21st, 2025 at 85 theaters in Japan. Due to the limited amount of interactive screening equipment, the movie continued its run at a limited number of 60 to 80 theaters in Japan. While there have been many movies in the past that started with small-scale releases of around 10 theaters, gained popularity and expanded to over 150 theaters to become major hits, HypMovie has become the first movie in Japan to surpass a box office revenue of 2 billion yen with fewer than 100 theaters from its opening day. One of the reasons the movie has been such a hit is due to its interactive nature, the first of its kind in Japan, and which plays a central role in the viewing experience. The outcome of each rap battle unfolding on the screen is decided by the audience via a specialized voting system carried out via smartphone. Viewers vote during the movie a total of 5 times to determine the winner of each battle, which means there are a total of 48 different ways the movie can play out and 7 different endings.

Furthermore, to commemorate the movie's success, the specially-produced video "Claim Victory (Immersive Edition)"—which is being shown at the "HYPNOSISMIC -Division Rap Battle-" exhibition currently in Nagoya—has been uploaded to the official Hypnosis Mic YouTube channel for a limited time. The video encapsulates the intensity of the final Division Rap Battle during the movie and is a must-see for any HypMic fan. It will only be available until September 7th 23:59 JST, so don't miss it.

The battle continues in theaters where HypMovie continues to be shown, and audiences in Japan have the opportunity to get their hands on some limited bonus items. As the 11th round of bonuses, “clear cards” featuring new illustrations by the Hypnosis Mic character designer Kazui will be given out to moviegoers. 2 sets of 3 designs will be randomly distributed, the first of which is Buster Bros!!!/MAD TRIGGER CREW/Fling Posse, which will be given out until September 12th, followed by the Matenro/DOTSUITARE-HOMPO/Bad Ass Temple version from September 13th until September 19th. Additionally, part of the latest round of live HypMic events featuring HypMic cast members "HYPNOSISMIC -Division Rap Battle- 11th LIVE [final D.R.B.]" (hereafter referred to as 11th Live), will be livestreamed in theaters in Japan alongside HypMovie. These special "Live Viewing" screenings will include a live broadcast of part of the stage performances before the movie screening, and will include the opening greeting from the cast on-stage.
Tickets for Fling Posse & Matenro's performance on September 6th are currently on sale. Tickets for MAD TRIGGER CREW & DOTSUITARE-HOMPO's performance on September 20th go on sale on September 13th, and tickets for Buster Bros!!! & Bad Ass Temple's October 4th performance go on sale on September 27th. All 6 of the 11th Live performances will be livestreamed by ABEMA exclusively on their “ABEMA PPV” platform, with tickets currently on sale. In addition to the standard ticket which will stream footage from the main camera only, a special “multi-angle” ticket is also on sale, which allows you to freely choose between the “upper camera”, “lower camera” and “full-view camera” during the stream. PPV viewers can also enjoy special bonus content: an “I'm Home” video of the cast members recorded right after the performance, where they will talk to the camera about their thoughts and feelings directly after the show. INTRODUCTION
Music-based character rap project Hypnosis Mic: started in September 2017
Hypnosis Mic features 18 unique characters who are divided into 6 teams: Ikebukuro Division, "Ikebukuro Division," "Yokohama Division," "Shibuya Division," "Shinjuku Division," "Osaka Division," and "Nagoya Division," where they engage in intense rap battles.

Leading figures in Japan's hip hop scene are featured as creators in the tracks used for each rap battle. Each character's voice actor performs all their own songs, and so each character's story develops through the music.

The world of Hypnosis Mic has been explored across a range of media, including manga, video games, stage plays, anime and more, all based on its strongly characteristic music and narrative audio dramas.

What's the MOVIE?

"HYPNOSISMIC -Division Rap Battle-" is Japan's "first" audience-participation style interactive movie.

The outcome of each rap battle unfolding on the screen is decided by the audience vote. Voting is conducted in real-time through the smartphone app "CtrlMovie" system by Kino Industries, and the story progresses based on the outcome of these votes.
