If my memory is correct, and it's known to be wrong a lot, us fans of the anime were a relative minority. I don't recall it being received very well, so there's not particularly a lot of hope for a new season. But, maybe I'm wrong, and/or enough interest is ginned up by this news that they're willing to give the anime route another shot.
