I was just there last night and there wasn't a single poster or flyer in the place announcing this.

What great marketing that wasn't.

Cheers,

Erica

Huh, I remember this lady being cited in Eyeshield 21 and Arina Tanemura...

By "forced out" they mean "caught sleeping with a middle-aged man."

And her counter-part Nozomi Sugi got knocked up, which is even more hilarious...

She was first suspended for smoking underage, in 2006. The following year when she was about to come back, she was found smoking again and involved with an older man. That's what terminated her contract for good.

Tsuji, not Sugi. But the case with her is a lot different. Tsuji's contract was never terminated, and today she is still with the same agency as her daughter is approaching her 2nd birthday. She still performs occasionally. She just took pregnancy leave for a while. It's also a little better since she married the guy, whereas Kago was involved with a guy that was married to someone else and there was a giant scandal. Tsuji and her guy made an official press conference announcement of her pregnancy and their engagement.

Right, Tsuji. My sister is the MoMo maniac, not me...

But the fact that she got knocked up and had a shotgun wedding to save face is still amusing to me (because I'm an ass). By not being responsible and getting on the pill so essentially ruined her career. Then again, a very small % of women in Japan are on the pill because it was just recently (within 10 years or so?) legalized. Hilarious considering it took 40 years to legalize the pill, but like three months to legalize Viagra. But that's Japan for you.

Not to nit-pick, but seriously? Neutral She's more well-known and popular now than she's been for years. She's on TV almost every night on one show or another (and she's become a regular on many of them), has a line of kids clothes in stores, she recently released a book and has another one due out this month, and just appeared in a series of commercials. The only thing she doesn't do as often anymore is singing, but all of the "old generation" H!P girls are in the exact same boat since they graduated from H!P in March. Among them, she's actually one of the most currently active in the entertainment industry.

I agree, she made mistakes, and she definitely should have exercised better judgment a few years ago when all of this took place. But give credit where credit is due; she overcame something that could have easily ruined her career, and went on to make herself more popular than she's been since she graduated Morning Musume in 2004. Right now she has a very successful career and a nice little family. There's no reason to try and minimize any of that because of one mistake she made a few years ago. That's my opinion, anyway.
