When it comes to anime franchises that have spin-off series, I tend to count the spin-offs as seasons. Thus, this will be the 5th AoT season. However, I am curious how Eastern and Western media companies distinguish "cour" or "season" from series. Entries in the Gundam and Star Trek franchise are a bit more notable in defining "series".

"Cour" is easy: One quarter of a year.
