^ 8-10-year-old children should already be able to play Mario properly; if they aren't yet, teach them!

I'm kind of from the old school of self teaching like most of our generation. Plus the 8 year
old is super stubborn and impatient

I grew up during those times too, but I've met enough people on the fence about video games to know that you can get more people into it by giving them training wheels first.
Some people prefer to self-teach themselves to play, and some people prefer to have someone else teach them until they get the hang of it. Super Mario 3D World is intuitive enough that it isn't necessary, but there are some really obtuse games out there that'd be incomprehensible if you didn't grow upon them or had someone show you the way. I could never understand fighting games, for instance, because I never knew anyone offline who plays fighting games, and arcades became an endangered species by the time I played my first one, not including Smash (BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger). My online win rate was in the single digits. It was frustrating.

I see.
Well, they'll eventually learn playing Mario and other videogames by themselves soon, I guess.

The 10 year old yeah, the 8 year old though is capable enough to rack up COOL mode on every level of PaRappa The Rapper 2 himself with no coaching or teaching beforehand while I can't do jack squat beyond GOOD.
