Actually, about the previous episodes, is it possible that Crunchyroll/Ocean is still maybe trying to wrestle the license away from Sentai Filmworks? I was on their site just now checking solicitations, and I saw (in addition to the movie, which everyone knows is dubbed) there are three Gintama collections, numbered 1, 3, and 4. It didn't give the episodes, but here's the link: https://shop.sentaifilmworks.com/collections/shows?page=4&sort_by=title-ascending

Watched a bit. Kagura doesn't have her speaking quirk but it's decent. Hope someone likes it.

This is one anime series that they REALLY should of just left untouched with the original A-tier Japanese dub cast. I love English dubs on anime series just fine, but for this series an English dub is really not needed.

I guess the reason they started so late (something I was fearing) was because the sub of the previous episodes are rather old, so it's either expensive to put in new materials or those materials are now lost. That's why Funimation's rescues, and the shows they license that came out in or before 2011 are released sub-only (poor Nichijou). Given this is Ocean's dub, however, I'm assuming they went ahead and dubbed the rest.
I doubt Nichijou was released sub-only because of its age. It is more likely due to its previous pickup by Bandai and streaming by Cruncyroll before its license by Funimation and their partnership. It is very unlikely that a show will just not get a dub due to being older also. It also has to do with the companies in Japan and the licensors expectations for the show.

I just got done watching the first episode and...It seems pretty dry to be honest.

Hopefully the next couple episodes are better.

I suggest you skip to episode 20 or something. The first few episodes are terrible

I just watched the dub on Crunchyroll and it's not bad. The humor is still there, so I don't get how most of y'all think it sounds dry just because it's in English. Confused

Well I'm disappointed. I was looking forward to watching the show dubbed but not when they skip hundreds of episodes, screw that. I'm gonna give up on the dub, subbed it is then.

Dubbing Gintama now just seems random.. They skipped more than half the series...

Why skip the entire show? Does this mean the blueray sets are going to start off at this point as well? this is doomed

I was excited: but then I realised they started more than 200 episodes into the series. Screw that, and screw them.

Does Crunchyroll even have the license for the first like 200 episodes? Feels so random to start with season 3 Rolling Eyes

One has to wonder what exactly they were thinking. Anyone who has already watched this far into the series is a) unlikely to switch and b) unlikely to like dubs in the first place: and people who like dubs are not going to start at episode 226.
