Nabari

I'm not quite sure what the correct name for this should be on the entry. My guess is that it's currently called just "Nabari" because that's what the DVD covers use. However, in the promo videos Funimation uses to market the show, they clearly call it Nabari no Ou (1* ; 2* ; 3). They also call it Nabari no Ou on their Youtube page for it; the individual episode videos are also called Nabari no Ou. Even the link to the official page on Funimation's site is www.funimation.com/nabari-no-ou. Although, the Youtbe page URL is http://www.youtube.com/show/nabari, so there's another point in favor of Nabari.

Usually I would say to go with whatever the DVD cover says since that's how all of the other US licensed shows are titled in the Encyclopedia, but I think in this case, since the marketing clearly uses Nabari no Ou, that's what it should be called in stead of just Nabari. A case could be used for either side (leave it or change it), but I think renaming it Nabari no Ou has a better case.

*The point of these videos is that the voice over verbally says "Nabari no Ou". If any non-US members want to hear it for themselves, but can't see the videos, I can make audio recordings of those parts.

Well, URLs often are shortened to the simplest identifier (I wouldn't be surprised if an Ouran High School Host Club channel was just listed as "Ouran"), so I don't think that counts for or against it.

Other than the URL, if the only listing of it is the DVD covers, and everything else, especially the English voice-over of the trailers, calls it "Nabari no Ou", I think that the main title should be listed as "Nabari no Ou", with "Nabari" listed as an alternate title, probably with the precision of "US - DVD Cover Title" or something like that.

I think it would be the best if any FUNi staff could clear it up. If no FUNi staff sees this thread by tomorrow then I'll forward this thread to them.

Well, a useful resource for FUNimation copyrights is http://www.funimation.com/copyright - it is listed under "Nabari no Ou".

I can't think of any other cases where the full title of something was not included on the cover though.

The preliminary feedback suggests "Nabari no Ou" as the formal title, but they'll double check the issue. I'll keep updating this thread as well as the Encyclopedia entry.
