That's gotta be a bitch for people who wanted finality to the series. R.I.P.

Shoot....
Well RIP Kaoru Kurimoto! You wrote one of the best long running novel series and you shall be missed! |

So... did Guin Saga actually finish with volume 126? Or will it be a famous long-running story made more mysterious by its lack of resolution?

I don't think it's finished. I think we just had Robert Jordon all over again. Please tell me she left her notes with someone to finish it! It's tragic enough to lose someone to cancer at 56, but to lose the Guin Saga as well...! |

That's a real shame, given that the anime just came out and the novel series was celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. I wonder if there will be an "In Memorium" message at some point in the show or towards the end. It would only be appropriate.

I was just about to watch episode 7 of Guin Saga and then I read this. I feel very sad. Her influence was felt great and wide. Kentaro Miura has said to be influenced by her so I'm sure he is feeling sad as well. Hopefully, her husband can finish the story if she left any notes behind.

I was just starting to get into this series. It's a great series to be honest. RIP

Oh man, that really bites, especially since the anime just started to come out - its excellent. I hope someone brings the novels here to the US.

It's hard for me to be truly sad, barely having seen a few episodes of Guin Saga and without reading any of the novels she actually wrote, but I sympathize with her family and, of course, her fans.
Hopefully, both for their sake and to give her legacy a good send-off, somebody will be able to pick up where she left off and write a proper conclusion to the novel series if this is at all possible. |

Here: http://www.vertical-inc.com/guinsaga/index.html On the subject of whether Guin Saga is finished or not, I am unsure. If it is unfinished, I'd rather it stay unfinished, than have someone other than the original author write an ending. Only the original author knows what she wants to do with the story, and if she's gone now, that is gone, too. I'd rather they leave it open to interpretation by the fans, than write an ending that will probably cause a lot of outrage. |

No...it never finished and never will be sadly. It's been running from damn 1979...the year Mobile Suit Gundam came out. |
