I was actually praying Funimation was going to have this announcement at AnimeExpo!

Oh Lordie, I can't wait now. If I'm not mistaken, the Japanese release did not have a 2.02 and then 2.22 version of the film so we can just count on 1 definitive copy of the movie to be released for us to purchase.

Thank You Funimation, now I will wait promptly for Amazon or RightStuf to have this Blu-Ray for pre-order.

I know; I so can't wait for this to get solicited so I can get it. I hope it gets a nice release, too!

Hope that licensing fee doesn't put them in the red.

1 - will Tiffany Grant reprise her role as Asuka?

2 - who will play Kaji? did you get Aaron Krohn back?

3 - who will play new character Mari Illustrious Makinami?

4 - did any minor cast members have to be recast, due to someone leaving in the past year, etc? (will Caitlin Glass still be able to play Maya even though Caitlin lives in Europe now?)

Theatrical rights are notable by their absence from this announcement.

they were mentioned during the panel; yes, NTV is forcing them to make another costly theatrical run

Hopefully it'll actually be in the United States of America this time.

Hmm, I wonder why the Summer Wars release specifically mentions theatrical rights while this one does not.

Are you sure "forcing" is the right word? I'm sure FUNimation would not have bought the rights to Eva 2.0 unless they felt the demands for it were reasonable. I mean, I could be wrong, but it doesn't make sense from a business standpoint to say, "Well, this will lose us a lot of money, but let's get it anyway."

To paraphrase Kent Brockman, "And this fan thinks it's about *beep*ing time!"

I have a feeling that if Tiffany Grant doesn't reprise Auska there's gonna be a riot.

No, it doesn't make sense, but it's still a good investment in the Blu-Ray market, and if the Hollywood movie(s) happens. Plus, FUNi can off-set any losses with DBKai.
