Haha, what a year of constant zigzagging Koucha Agasawa.

Winter: You and I are polar opposites.
Spring: Ramparts of Ice.
Summer: You and I are polar opposites S2.
Fall: Ramparts of Ice S2.

Made funnier by the different approaches of each series.

While I do think Polar Opposites is one of the best romcoms out there, I really like this show too so I'm happy with this announcement.

Glad we're back to Polar Opposites for a season, cooled off hard over how rigid and dry an adaptation this ended up being. A real good example of how if something works within the panel-to-panel flow of a manga, that doesn't mean it can just be lifted 1:1 into animation

Sure Polar Opposites is a more upbeat and colourful series, and I admit I prefer it over Ramparts, but Agasawa's style still shone through with this adaptation to make it memorable even if the overall tone is more dramatic & "cold" in comparison. I'm just glad it didn't go as hard with the tone as something like Scum's Wish, as a direction like that would have killed Ramparts and made it forgettable. Agasawa's style allows the more goofy elements of Polar Opposites to be juxtaposed against actual emotional/relationship drama, especially once animated, so calling it "rigid and dry" feels a little harsh.

I think they did a great job and I've been engaged the whole time. I didn't find it rigid or dry. I'm looking forward to the next season.

I liked the characters and animation style of Ramparts so I'm glad we're getting a s2 and they're not doing a read the manga ending or trying to rush the finale. The English dub has been excellent too.

I don't think it's harsh at all, almost the entirety of the anime is just lifting panels 1:1 from the source material without regard for whether a chibi cutaway gag every couple seconds actually works within the medium of animation (as opposed to manga, where that sort of thing has a natural flow from panel to panel where your brain can fill in the gaps as a matter of how a comic is read). There was no equivalent of Natsuho Iwaida there to inject life and verve into scenes, or a Takakazu Nagatomo to incorporate the cutaways more naturally into the setting through more dynamic direction, so the end result was incredibly flat and indeed dry and rigidly adherent to the source material to its detriment
