We got it. So far it's pretty good. There's a bonus disc with a 45 minute OAV on it that's pretty cool. You have a choice of subbed or dubbed for everything. (Though I believe it's dubtitles so sometimes the Japanese doesn't match up but I don't think it really effects the game much.) My husband has only played it for about 45 minutes, so I can't really give a full review on it. Besides, this is only part one

I think I'll be getting the games once they're all released. First off, there are so many other games I want right now, like Zelda and Xenosaga. Second, I'm sure they'll end the game with a cliffhanger and I'll go crazy waiting to know what happens next.

This game, is very good. Very very very very very very very very good. The game play is actually great. Considering the context of the game, it's like it should be. Except for one small thing. the wavemasters, but even then, it's still rather good. It plays pretty much just like a real MMORPG, and thats why the game is good. This is not your average RPG either. It's graphics are great, and the plot is, yes, good. The only downfall is, Short. If your a cheapo, then dont buy this game. rent it for a weekend and complete it, yes, complete. it's only volume one of a 4 volume set (it might be more then four volumes). So, yes, completeing this game will most likly cost you 200 dollars over 1 year (estimates) and even if it came out last wednesday, i've already completed it (last night around 12:30). And i'll most likly put another 10 or so hours on it upgrading my characters for the next volume to. If you need my help, just ask

As much as I agree that they may have been a little "over the top" with the way they described, they WERE just stating what they heard.... but, all is good, I have heard it was pretty good, I will get it at some point...

I have read a few reviews on it (namely Gamepro, IGN, and Gamespot's websites) and all of them are positive. It sounds interesting, even though I must admit I'm not one for RPG's. I'm with CGoten on getting them after they are all out however. While we are on the subject of RPG's, I might pick up Final Fantasy X-2 when it comes out (Although Midnight Club 2 and Auto Modellista have top priority! )

Well, I finished .Hack//INFECTION and have to say that I really did enjoy it. So, let me give my quick review...
1. What was cool?
- The story was interesting and the fact that it is interconnected with the anime/OAV/manga is pretty cool in of itself. I'm looking forward to the rest of the story and finishing .Hack//SIGN.
- The battle system seemed pretty unique; sort of like Kingdom Hearts but with much finer control of the action.
- I thought the execution of a pseudo-MMORPG was very good; down to the fact that you don't really have direct control your 'friends' and party members (they are supposed to have a will of their own). This make item management between the other player characters interesting, to say the least. Also, the 'real world' emails between the players adds a lot.
2. What was not so cool?
- There are some issues with the game-play with the camera. You can swing the camera around manually and when an object gets in the way of the camera, it automatically zooms in to avoid it. I guess the point was to make it not get stuck, but it can be really disorienting because it is not a real smooth transition. You are just suddenly zoomed in.
- It can get a bit repetitive, but hey, it's supposed to be a MMORPG after all.
- Graphically, it's not the the best thing out there. The graphics reminded me of Skies of Arcadia, which is already several years old.
3. Is the game too short?
In comparison to most RPG's (Final Fantasy, etc) it is pretty short. I've heard of people who have beaten it in 16 hours. Personally, I like to take my time and it took me about 53 hours to beat it. (in comparison, I beat FFX in 90+ hours). However, this is a bit misleading (see number 4)
4. Is it worth $50?
Actually, considering that there is an Anime DVD included, that would retail for at least $20, then the game is only $30. Yes it is worth it. Going back to the game length for a second - even though the plot can be traversed fairly quickly, there is a TON of game that is 'extra' and not part of the story proper. There are over 40,000 levels that can be played in this volume alone (this is probably why they had to split it into 4 volumes). After you beat the game, you can still keep playing, get better weapons and strengthen your characters in preparation of the next volume.
In short, it a very good game for what it set out to accomplish. It's fun, interesting, and unique. I totally recommend it.

Yeah, a 20-30 hour game if like leveling building and getting Omake (I love the 2nd BlackRose and Kite manga wallpaper.), but with the other 3 games, it's going to get pretty long. Atleast the wait is every 3 months for the installments.
BTW: 35 is a good level to beat the last boss. Bring tons of SP/HP/Life recover items, Masterblades and skill

I beat it at level 33. It get's kinda tedious leveling up after that, with how the exp points system works. I used the Hell's Gate myself with Materblade as a backup. Oh, and high powered Wavemasters are really helpfull as well.

How do you get Hell's Gate? Yeah, one with Life and an all Heal spell. Now I just to level build the extra characters (mostly poor old Level 1 Natsumi.)

Take your highest level blade and make a visit to your friendly neighborhood Level 2 Grandpa. It should take you no more than 2 visits with a Masterblade, 1 if you are lucky. Well, if you are unlucky, he'll downgrade you're weapon. If you read the BBS, you'll remember that weather plays a role in this, so once you find one that upgrades your weapon, go to another level, but make sure the weather is being decided by the same keyword. This will work with anyones weapon or any armor, but I don't think it'll work for rare items (I still have to try that)

You know, there is supposed to be something extra if you beat the game with all the characters at the max affection level. Since you never played with her in your party, she probably does not have much affection for you

I hate these little brain farts of mine. I remember that while watching .hack//sign alittle while ago. I not use to go to the Grampa for weapon upgreads too much.

I made a copy of the file before I beat the last guy, so I doesn't kill me too much, besides, more level gaining fun for the rest of them.
Sorry for going off topic. Bad habits are hard to break.
