There actually is one, I took pictures of it on tumblr

I don't believe it is a complete Karuta set. I think it only has 50 of the poems in it, but it is still really nice.

These aren't poems, but quotes from the series. Meaning I could play this with my girlfriend... o.o

Well, then again, we need three people...

I got that set not long ago as part of an Amazon order.

Hmmm... A Madoka karuta set should come with an audio CD that has Kyubei as the Reader.

These are the beginning halves from the cards we can see, exlucding Kyuubey's line:

Sayaka: "They do exist."
Homura: "I... I want to do over my meeting with Kaname-san!"
Kyouko: "Being by yourself is lonely, isn't it..."
Madoka: "If... and I mean if..."
Madoka: "Someday, again, I'll meet you, Homura-chan, once more."
Mami: "Yes, yes. We must introduce ourselves."

Now read them in Kyuubey's voice.

...

Terrifying, isn't it.

These don't look to be suitable for playing, not that you'd want to as it's obviously intended just to be a collectors item. In order to play karuta there needs to be a set of reading cards and a separate set of playing cards. In competitive karuta the reading card has the whole poem on each card and the playing card just has the last verse written in hiragana (and no picture)

Sadly this franchise's merchandise will probably outsell a real Chihayafuru's karuta set.. ): And it probably won't help Chihayafuru in any way at all.

Keep in mind that the manga of Chihayafuru sells well even if the anime does not.

The Chihayafuru Karuta set was being sold in the main section of Kinokuniya in Japan not just the manga section (although it was being sold there too of course). Made me think they thought Chihayafuru had wide appeal.

I have it! Since I don't actually have anyone to play Karuta with I don't mind that it just has half the cards. I like the fact that it has illustrations from the manga on it which makes it fun to own. And since you only need 50 cards to play, you can play karuta with it, it is just easier since you know which ones are karafuda... but for total amateurs who don't know how to read hiragana upside down that doesn't really matter much...

In fact this is set A. Looks like they'd originally planned to make a set B but never did or not yet. Still time I suppose.

It comes with a reading CD by the best reader in the series which is another bonus for me.

But if you just want to play karuta there are cheaper sets than these.
