Still no seasonal date for Season 2 yet. But if I had to guess, perhaps Spring again in 2016.

I'm hoping they're already working on it and it'll come out in January. There's enough material available for 2 or even 3 cours.

I was already going to watch this before S2, so it being "Linked" makes it even more fun.

Yeah I'm expecting the season to be released in Spring 2016 (correlating with the first season's premiere in April back in 2013) as others have said (along with Season 6 of Game of Thrones, what a treat!)
Isayama's editor also commented on this. SO EXCITED! I wish they wouldn't say it "ties into" the second season; why not just say it's a short clip? What does "ties into" imply?
I'm also wondering what they will show us. I know many people expect it will just be the military noticing the Titan in the wall, but I can't help but think they'll give us something juicy (Beast Titan perhaps? Or maybe an Utgard scene? Who knows).

omg i wish i could see this!!!! >__< I wish Funi would bring this over :/
Yeah Spring 2016 could work. IIRC they animated up to chapter 33, and the manga's up to chapter 70 rn / vol 17 rn. I guess manga artist wanted to end it at 20 vols so if the manga ended towards the end of next year the anime could end then too... kinda like a FMA brotherhood situation.

Well, the 20 vol. could mean either 20 vol. from when he said that state-ment or ending at 20 vol.

The anime end was totally different from the manga. And it wasn't just about the noticing the Titan. Everything after they caught Anne was different(Also Fire Titan Eren never happened).
By saying "ties into" the second season I hope they are saying they will remake all of the end part.

At first I had no problem with Fire Titan, until my friend gave me a harsh in-depth analysis as to why it is problematic, and even though I do like some of the changes to the last three episodes I no longer like Fire Titan and Annie's mischaracterization.
I very much hope a retcon is the case though (I'd even prefer it over a Season 2 scene, believe it or not). I'm just not sure they would "fix" an anime by changing a movie's ending however.

He meant ending the series at 20 volumes. I heard he wanted to extend it a little, but I'm uncertain of the legitimacy of that claim. I would rather it be too short than too long though, but a couple more volumes wouldn't hurt.

Last I heard was it was planned to end around 27 volumes?

that's a lie. they probably heard it from another forum. Then people in this forum will say the samething on another forum. This is the endless cycle of internet. ANN would post it if it's from a good source.

It was a popular rumor though, to the point where I did hear about it on multiple internet platforms. If just 20 volumes were true, that would mean there wouldn't be enough material for a third season. Whatever though, it will grow more and more clear over time of Isayama's intentions for the series... after all, he did say he "wants" to, not that he "will".
