So confused why people were so adamant that 3 would be the next to be remade, especially with it's story being a direct sequel. Hope they expand on the town exploration aspect of 2, which was some of the best stuff in the remake of 2.

Makes sense to remake SH1 first before SH3 since they're directly connected.

Well, you can say the same about Metal Gear and Konami is remaking Snake Eater over 1 and 2 despite you needing to play 1 and 2 before Snake Eater even if it's technically a prequel. No one who hasn't played 1 or 2 is going to know the impact of the characters or connections when they get revealed.
Silent Hill 3's more popular than 1 so despite missing story connections it makes more sense from a business standpoint. A remake of 1 could be interesting since it'll be the most changed given the different gameplay it had compared to 2 and 3. I just hope they don't change the story too much or try to shove Pyramid Head retroactively into it or something silly like that.
