It's a week away from the new season and Crunchyroll still hasn't announced it's Spring lineup as of the morning of Tuesday 4/24, so I thought I'd go ahead and get a head start/late start and toss up some threads on the shows that we do know about. If the premiere dates change as they sometimes do at the last minute (even on the morning of) I'll change them.

The first episode has me feeling conflicted. The show looks great with tons of small details and a lot of charm. The class seems like a fun one and the mix of gags and wholesome moments is great. Okuto might take some getting used to on my part though, his mix of extreme shyness and not being able to communicate already felt a little grating. If he slowly builds up some confidence and makes progress that way then things are perfectly fine though. It is only the first episode after all. |

I am still not completely sold but by getting more characters involved I enjoy seeing how Nakamura gets himself into all kinds of zany situations a bit more. He even had some success this week, I guess. Hirose knows his name even if it is because of how Nakamura keeps on fumbling. I do wonder if any actual romance will happen though given the bl manga reaction at the end. |

The show has managed to keep me wanting to see more. I am still not a big fan of Nakamura but he is slowly growing on me and every episode keeps introducing fun new characters. Reiko in particular is a fun addition in how out there she is while with Hifumi there might be a romantic triangle now? |

Color me surprised, Nakamura and Hirose bonding and officially becoming friends was done amazingly well. The whole second half felt satisfying with them finally spending some time together without any interruptions. Nakamura is slowly becoming a bit more daring and I appreciate Hirose having his own stuff to deal with. I am glad that I kept watching despite not being a huge fan of the first few episodes. |

I hope you kept watching through the end credits. Since they always use a new retro song and new animation I always do, but this one was especially great with all the subtle little movements going on in the background to catch your eye. He's gonna need occult girl to come do an exorcism on his room.
Best episode of the season so far. |

Agreed (I am an episode behind), episode 7 was great. All of the quirky characters that the show has were together interacting and the haunted school tour is always a lot of fun. There being an actual ghost was a fun surprise though it being interested in Nakamura not at all, the dude just attracts weirdness. |

After really liking the previous episode I am not happy this week. Seeing two perverts face off is not something I wanted. |

While the first few episodes and the one involving the creep off were not great the majority of the show is very much worth watching. The romantic progress starts off slow but it does happen and manages to feel satisfying. It helps that quite a few of the side characters keep things entertaining. The supernatural club in particular makes every episode they are in a zany time. |

So that ending face looked like they're not in the same class this year? Hard to be sure. Is this getting another season?
I liked the last episode maybe the most since the haunted school. This superficially looks like a story of ever-unrequited love, but Hirose clearly had a crush on their teacher, and doesn't seem interested enough in girls to try to see them as regular people he could even enjoy hanging out with, let alone fall in love with. And their are a few other bits of his behavior that have no heterosexual explanation. |

I think it's supposed to be ambiguous, like in that moment whether or not they're in the same class is entirely dependent on whether or not the viewer wants Nakamura to be happy in that moment. I don't really expect another season, because while the manga was supposed to be getting another serialization, that was announced years ago and well before Syundei got harassed off of social media because of this very series. The same staff could maybe do an original movie or something with the creators' blessing, since the original stories are often the best part of old 70s anime (like Urusei Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer), but I'm not sure how likely that is at the moment. Unfortunately.
I want to see it, but I'm not sure this series will go anywhere at all from here with how people behaved themselves. Just keep rooting for Nakamura in your heart, I guess? For me this was like watching two of my past selves interact, so I'll be rooting for them both to work things out the way I couldn't.
