It sounds like a good book, but the cover is so disappointing and unnecessary.

I sent the publisher an email about their stupid slop cover, other folks definitely could as well if they feel so inclined.
That's info (at) tuttlepublishing (dot) com, btw.

I knew what it was just from the awful thumbnail. Totally erases any desire for the actual content. If the bookcover is a big turd, it doesn't really matter how good the inside is; you're still going to have shit on your hands. :/

If it’s a review copy, it could be a stand-in for the real cover, slapped together to give the idea to the reviewer before the copyright clearances have gone through.
Hope so, anyway.
The experience of friends is that the author gets a big say over the cover, and it’s kind of hard to imagine Jonathan Clements opting for a generative AI cover.

When I saw the thumbnail I paused in confusion. "Why is ANN reviewing an AI thing? Maybe the review will be suitably scathing".
I feel like companies don't really just how much they can hurt their reputation and stock by using AI... If that's the final cover, I would never ever want this in my bookshelf, even if the book itself is great.

The book was released a month ago, this is the actual cover.

Was going to make a joke about people here judging a book by it's cover but the review already made one. If people are going to let a cover stop them from enjoying something then they probably weren't going to bother with it anyway. I wonder how many people would have even posted about the book or give this review the time of day if it wasn't just to complain about the cover. If nothing else, it seems like a good way to get noticed.

Weird way to miss the point and also defend AI for some reason, but okay.
