This is going to be a big deal. Obviously, there are going to be some growing pains, but I'm interested to see if the team can at least pull off a satisfying ending. Ultimately, what's truly important is what Miura would have wanted, and I'm assuming this is it.

Kouji Mori was a close friend to Miura, even penning a manga short chapter of him attending the funeral and mourning him.

Apparently they regularly consulted each other about their work and it lead Miura to telling him the entire plan he has for Berserk. So Mori knows the full story here.

Awesome news!

If they have intimate knowledge of Miura's intentions and the ending, then it makes sense to continue it and the fans can have closure.

I wonder if the art will remain at a high level or they opt for quicker chapter releases? Maybe the story may move at a quicker pace for better or worse.

I'm optimistic that the staff will do it very well!

I had mixed feelings until I realized that if I was the only one that knew the ending of a story with millions of fans worldwide and the life project of my late best friend, along with a team of very talented assistant artists wanting to honor Miuras work, for me it wouldn't really be a matter of choice.

If there is anyone who can finish his story it is definitely Kouji Mori supervising it.

Granted it wont be the exact same but 3 decades of story telling and so many fans have stayed on hoping to see it trough, a lot of people want to see Guts journey to the end be reached.

I hope for the best.

It's certainly better than leaving the story hanging forever unfinished but I know that there going to be people unsatisfied with the outcome no matter what simply because it wasn't done by Miura himself and are going to complain as such that he would have done the ending much better.

I wish Kouji Mori and Studio Gaga, the very best of luck being in such a unenviable position.

I'm okay with this. I have two schools of thought about what this means in the end:

1 - if manga fails/isn't satisfactory with its eventual conclusion, in my mind (and maybe others) I can always think to myself, "Miura didn't do it, and I don't have to consider anything made after he passed away as canon or official, or as anything that he would have done if he was still around."

2 - But then, if this manga does end terrifically, and does tell a fantastic story, then I'll be happy with it and can praise it as a great send up to Miura as well as being a great nod to Miura and his family for allowing such great hands to take over the franchise in his place.

So, it's kind of a win-win no matter how the manga ends. If it's bad, it doesn't matter. If it's good to great, I'll happy.

These are such big shoes to fill that I would have to imagine that this decision was not made lightly, where every aspect of all involved will be so closely compared to Miura's work - Not an enviable position. So I'd like to think the fact that this is moving forward is truly for the best and not some kind of cashgrab. Wishing the team the best of luck and hope it works well for the fans.

Also, One Piece announcing the beginning of the end and Berserk announcing it's starting again on the same day is one heck of a news day.

If there is only one person that can pull it off, that's Kouji Mori.

When Berserk began it seemed like a tale of revenge. I didn't realize it the first time but after reading the manga several times at about the halfway mark it feels like it stops being about revenge and I can't help feeling that a revenge ending is not where the series was headed.

If that was truly the case given the thirst for blood I've seen online from a number of Berserk fans they would probably be dissatisfied with an ending that didn't culminate in the death of a certain individual.

While I am curious to see how this continuation of the manga pans out I'm not sure I'll ever be able to fully accept it as the true ending. Rather one possible ending of many endings that could have been. After all had Kentaro Miura lived it's likely he would have made some changes to his plans as the story progressed.

Cautiously optimistic, Kouji Mori isn't setting the expectations super high, he knows he doesn't have every detail down pat for how Miura would've continued but I have faith he knows enough of Miura's vision and won't let his friend down, nor will Studio Gaga.

My biggest concern is the art. I don't see how anyone can mirror that godly level of quality Miura's work had. That said, i'm glad we're at least getting closure.

I just knew that they'd do it. As usual, treat this as a what if scenario to keep your expectations in check. Remembering what was said long ago from your brain can lead to mistakes.
