All right, more Yamato!

Now would be a great time for some licensor to take a chance on the original series, on Blu-Ray, subtitled. Movies, too. Surely Voyager Entertainment can't have that strong a grasp on it, can it? I'd love to have Farewell Yamato on Blu-Ray, especially.

Right. Did they ever release Odyssey of the Celestial Ark? I actually love this series and the remakes (eh...retellings) are excellent. I had to watch subs of everything through other than official channels till we FINALLY got releases because they took years. I don't think they ever dubbed the movie. Pity too because it was excellent as well.

Godamnit! The trailer for the 4K remaster of Yamato II looks drop dead amazing too. Why the hell cant someone like Discotrek get their hands on this. Surely it would shift some units!

I was not aware of this new anime. It is a shame that Funimation/Crunchyroll did not release 2205. I assume the same will happen with 3199.

Funimation skipped the Celestial Ark movie, has ignored the latest couple of movies, and is pretty lousy with handling movies attached to TV shows in general. Along with them basically ignoring the latest batch of Galactic Heroes episodes, I don't have much confidence in them doing anything with more Yamato either. If we're lucky, perhaps someone else will pick it up or they'll at least start putting English subtitles on the Japanese BDs again.

Same. This didn't seem like the same movie I remembered being announced, but yeah, not getting it, at least so far, would explain it.

I share the sentiment that I doubt if we will get it here. Like lemurs said, movies associated with TV projects have very inconsistent releases, and stuff like Galactic Heroes seemingly got dropped as a dub project.

I seem to recall someone from Funimation, maybe on an ANNcast episode(?), saying that movies are oftentimes too costly compared to series. It probably doesn't help that streaming rights for movies seems to be more restrictive. It was treated like something of a big deal that Crunchyroll could stream the things like the Dragonball Super movies.

It could be a case where CR is waiting for the Rebel 3199 announcement, (Which just happened) and will license 2205 & Rebel 3199 in a package deal like they did with 2199 and 2202, to get a better deal on licensing, iirc both 2199 & 2202 eventually made it to TV in Japan and that's when Funimation licensed it. So it could go either way, imo. I'll probably be saving up for the JP Rebel 3199 BD's because that may be the only way to have it on disc for the time being.

If CR isn't going to license, I hope that Rebel has English subs, like 2199 did
