I didn't think this review was ever going to happen.

I thoroughly love this show and I can't wait for the next season. I have to admit, I was fooled more than once during this volume's fantastical events. I loved it. It was a lot of fun slapping my forehead afterwards.(I am being serious) All of the characters are just so likeable and it's fun rooting for different couples to finally get together; even though they probably never will.

Lots and lots of laughs and a few touching moments sprinkled in make this show a winner for me.

Yeah, School Rumble is definitely a show that I like quite a lot, but I can understand why Carlo gave volume 6 a less than stellar review. Having said that, I remember I liked these episodes just as much as the rest when I watched the fansubs. That was a while ago, though, so I'll have to pop the DVD in at some point and see if things have changed for me.

Can't wait for Ni Gakki to start releasing in R1. The only thing I'm worried about is how that stretch of middle episodes is going to fare, critically speaking. There's quite a bit of what I'd call filler and -- although funny -- doesn't necessarilly do much for the rest of the plot.

Also; yes, the preparations for the cultural festival might be a little boring, but the even itself is totally worth it Wink.

I always thought School Rumble's weakest parts were the action sequences, such as the sports festival, the pool-cleaning hockey game, spoiler[The shooting game to decide for the culture festival] (Does School Rumble really need spoiler tags? Very Happy )
They always took 2 episodes to get through and usually involved a joke that was really funny but got pretty stale after a few minutes. And as much as I love a good action show... for whatever reason, I just couldn't find any real excitement in watching their hockey game or whatever. I guess I shouldn't ever watch sports anime. Razz

I have to say though, I disagree with the C- on animation. That's a bit harsh. It's true that Sukuran takes a lot of short cuts, but if you weren't a reviewer that was looking out for that sort of thing I don't think that you would notice it, as all the stills are rather suited for the show's style. I think something like a C- should be saved for something that's animation is bad enough to be distracting, but that's just me I guess.

I enjoyed the last volume and found myself laughing at the numerous references. My favorite is hands down the GE 999 parody complete with parody song. I also can't get the Harry Mackenzie Zeta parody intro out of my head and still snicker at the play on the name Harima Kenji.

It is odd to see how much of a mixed review Carlo, Theron, and Bamboo gave this series considering this is one of the highest ranking series rated on ANN. This series clocks in at #77 which is higher than GITS SAC, Eureka 7, Black Lagoon, Wolf's Rain, Voices from a Distant Star, Macross, Kenshin, and Trigun. Although I wouldn't give it a C grade this seems a bit excessively high.

This like Lucky Star is a series that either clicks with you or doesn't. I personally look forward to the rest.

@Randall

I'm so glad you brought up the rank and ratings because I totally forgot to add SR to my saw all and rate it. Anime smile + sweatdrop

That should give it another little nudge.

Funny you should mention SR's high rating, because that's actually how I first came to watch it, back almost three years ago. There I was, browsing aimlessly through the enyclopedia, when I stumbled upon 'School Rumble'. "Huh, that's an interesting title." So I checked out the entry, and aside from the art looking crisp, I noticed it was rated very highly; I thought what the hell, I'll check this show out. I quickly came to love it. Then of course, I had to wait some months for Ni Gakki.

Speaking of which, I just noticed that the aforementioned is rated at 66. Maybe San Gakki will hit 55?

I think the rating for the animation was not a good rating for it. It had it's moments where stuff may not look at good, but I though it should be at least a B or a B+

I would give the dub a slightly higher rating, but not much since spoiler[ Tenma sounds annoy most of the time.]

I was looking out on Wikipedia some time ago about fansubs and it said it used SR as an example for saying that fansubs sub both the opening and what actual words are being said. So I was like, well I've never heard of SR before let me take a look at what Wikipedia has on it. After spending some time looking up information about it, I decided I would give the series a try so I bought the Vol 1 of the manga and after I finished reading it, I knew that I was going to like this series and the rest is history from there.

The Tagalog dub of series one had three straight runs on cable last year. Thought they'd never get around to series two. Strangely enough, ABS-CBN debuted Nigakki on their broadcast network rather than on cable (Hero TV) last Sunday. I'm assuming it took so long because they wanted to use the original cast, who had other jobs in the meantime.
