Pocky Maker Glico Goes Moe with New Characters in Ad Campaign

posted on by Eric Stimson
Prominent food company uses moe characters, Vocaloid in new ad campaign

Glico, the prominent food manufacturer best known for its pretzel stick snacks Pocky and Pretz, has long relied on its classic running man character and real-life celebrities to promote its products. Now it has finally bowed to prevailing trends and introduced two moe-style anime characters to broadcast its message.

Lico and Gli are twin brother and sister magicians dedicated to making the world tastier. A newly posted music video has Lico sing (vocals provided by singer Chii) about granting everyone's wishes with her sparkly magic.

They are unveiled as part of a three-part ad campaign. The first centers around a new product called "Furiuma Powder" (which means something akin to "sprinkle tasty powder"), a cheese powder intended to enhance the taste of Pretz. It comes free with the purchase of two Glico products. Additionally, Glico is unveiling a caprese flavor of Pretz and a mango and orange flavor of Collon (a tube-shaped waffle snack filled with cream). Finally, there is a coupon for various flavors of Pocky and Pretz.

Furiuma powder and caprese Pretz will only be available until November 10. Fruit Collon will be available from November 11 to 17. The coupon application period lasts until November 18, and they can be exchanged from November 23 to December 8.
