Take Notes as L, Kira in Death Note Card Game This June
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
After spawning video games, escape games, and a popular convention variation on the Mafia party game, Death Note is returning as a new form of real-world challenge. IDW Games will release the "Death Note: Confrontation" card game on June 6.
The card game will recreate the story of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's original manga, in which eccentric detective L tries to identify and bring justice to megalomaniac serial killer Kira. In the new game, L lures Kira with targets while Kira continues to bring his own form of punishment to those he views as wicked. In the two-player game, each player takes on one of the two key roles and uses a notebook to try to locate Kira as L, or gain enough "victory points" as Kira.
The game includes one detective notebook, one Death Note notebook, 40 suspect cards, 24 lead cards, two wooden tokens, four plastic cards, three custom dice, and a rulebook for US$29.99. The game is intended for people age 15 and older, and it takes about 30 minutes to play.
