Man Arrested for Uploading Tamako Market Anime via Share

posted on by Egan Loo

On November 27, the cyber crime task force of Fukuoka Prefecture's police and Nishi Station arrested a 43-year-old self-employed man from Kobe on suspicion of using the Share file-sharing software to upload anime online without the copyright holders' permission. According to the Association of Copyright for Computer Software (ACCS), the suspect uploaded the 12th episode of the Tamako Market television anime around March 28. He is also suspected of uploading four other animated titles.

Security researchers have known about flaws in Share's anonymity features since 2006.
