Aniplex of America to Release Valvrave the Liberator 1st Season on Blu-ray

Aniplex of America announced at its industry panel at Anime Expo on Friday that it will release the first season of Valvrave the Liberator on Blu-ray on September 23. Pre-orders will open on July 7.

The box set will contain the first 12 episodes in Japanese with English subtitles. Special features and bonus content include textless opening and endings, trailers, commercials, collectible postcards, and a poster illustrated by character designer Katsura Hoshino. The set will carry an MSRP of US$149.98 and a store price of US$119.98.

Created by Sunrise Studio (Cowboy Bebop, Mobile Suit Gundam), Valvrave the Liberator is set in a world where 70% of the human population lives in space, following the story of a high school student named Haruto Tokishima. Haruto is a kind young man who hates fighting, but all that will change as his peaceful town is suddenly invaded by the military forces of Dorssia Military Pact Federation. When everything around Haruto's world seemed to come crashing down, Haruto discovers a mysterious humanoid weapon called the Valvrave. Haruto is forced to decide between saving his friends and abandoning his own humanity. Will Haruto liberate the world with his newly acquired powers?

Crunchyroll streamed the first and second seasons of the anime as they aired last year. Aniplex also streamed the second season on Daisuki, Hulu, and Aniplex Channel.
