PUCHIM@S' Mankyū directs anime shorts about vegetables children hate

Kadokawa and Shizukoka Asahi TV are collaborating to make the BAR Kiraware Yasai (BAR Hated Vegetables) Flash television anime series. Kadokawa is currently streaming a promotional video for the series of anime shorts.

The anime adapts Kadokawa and artist Daisuke Kimura's four-panel manga of the same name that is available on the ComicWalker website.

The manga and anime center on vegetables that children hate, everyone hesitates to eat, and are smelly. The series follows these vegetables as they visit a bar to share drinks together while they talk about their worries.

Gathering (Donyatsu, Gudetama, PUCHIM@S) is animating the series. Mankyū (Donyatsu, Mobile Suit Gundam-san, PUCHIM@S) is directing and handling scripts for the series, and he is also handling series composition along with Kōyū Narita. Narita is also serving as scenario planner alongside Tamezou. Keiji Fujiwara is both serving as sound director and playing the role of Eggplant and Air Agency is handling the sound. Suzumu (who is from Shizuoka and has composed numerous Vocaloid songs) is composing the music as well as the opening theme. Rena Maeda, who is also playing the role of the "vegetable idol" character Tomato, is performing the opening theme "Mogitate☆Caprese" and ending theme "Pasta Sauce de Ii kara."

The cast is as follows:

Masato Tanaka as Celery
Haruka Michii as Parsley
Keiji Fujiwara as Nasu (Eggplant)
Yūya Murakami as Goya
Rena Maeda as Tomato
Takayuki Kondou as Master (bartender)
Madoka Tomishiro as Kimurabi

The series will premiere in April on TV in Shizuoka, and Shizuoka Asahi TV's new streaming service SunSet TV will stream the series starting in March.
